The unit has been turned off for several weeks. When starting up should I turn it to High then turn it down for general use? What is the optimum setting?

It won't get colder any quicker by turning it higher than the temp. you want it to operate.

I changed clicks and relays but wires at the compressor burned, only fan runs but compressor still cant start, whats wrong and where is the thermostat?

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Your problem is not your thermostat. In some models the compressor knocks out the overload relay. They relay could last a few seconds or a few weeks before the compressor knocks it out again. This is especially turn with the LG units.

You will need a multi-meter to check your compressor.

1.) Unplug your unit. Remove the bottom back cover.

2.) Remove the overload components to expose the 3 pins on the compressor.

3.) Inspect the pins on the compressor. Are they clean or are they damaged from heat (Steel melting).

4.) With your multi-meter, set the meter on the lowest Ohms. Read the Ohms between each of the pins. You will have 3 readings. One reading will be high and the other 2 readings will be lower. Add the 2 lower readings together. This value must equal the high reading within a few tenths.

I hope I am wrong. A new compressor depending on the model is $275-$450.00. Include a system filter for $40.00, plus new refrigerant $45.00 and the cost od an experienced technician $300.00.

Temperature adjust frigidaire ffu2065fw2

Hello Ron Thacker - Often when the temperature is too cold, it is because the temperature control is set too cold/high. Turn the control to a warmer setting and allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize. If the unit does not stabilize within 24 hours, then it could possibly have a faulty thermostat or temperature control. I would personally reach out to an experienced tech that will be able to identify the precise reason.

Do to budget cuts , I turn freezer off at the circuit breaker when not going to be used for a week or more. Does this cause any undo wear & tear on the equipment ?

Opinions differ but based on my experience I would say yes. First the unit is starting under a heavy load every time you restart it. Second you will notice that rust will build up much quicker than normal because the unit will condensate a lot as it warms up and even the aluminum parts will get electrolysis and get a white powdery film and start to break down faster. Not to mention that bugs will gravitate to the unit for moisture and a place to hide when it's warm and wind up inside the walls going dormant when it's freezing.

Freezer started defrosting and the sides where burning hot. I emptied it and unplugged it. The next day i plugged it in again and it froze a water bottle rather quickly but the sides where still burning...

Your defrost timer has stuck to on position, replace timer and all good or locate timer and spray lubricant into the dial and turn it several times with unit off, then try it after several hours, quick fix only but may last several years...good luck...Russ

My power wen out and now my kenmore chest freezer high temp alarm is beeping and now it wont cool

I'd turn unit off...unplug it for a few minutes...plug it back in...and turn it back on setting the thermostat again.

Hopefully, you'll hear the compressor kick in and start cooling again.

Hope this helps...

Freezer thermostat was set at 0 degrees unit went down to -30 degrees. I increased temp on thermostat 3 degrees 3 times each over a 3 day period. The thermostat is not responding. I have the thermostat set...

I would start there. If the thermostat has an off setting, turn it there and see if it goes off. If not, try turning it to it's warmest setting while the box is cold to see if it turns off. To test to see if the relay/ contactor is stuck/bad, kill power to the unit (Unplug or turn off breaker). Disconnect one wire to the thermostat. Restore power. If unit runs, bad relay/contactor. If unit does not run, I'd replace the thermostat. Make sure the sensing bulb of the thermostat is in the conditioned space of the box or in the return air (intake) side of the evap so it can sense the box temp.

My freezer will freeze for about 2weeks then it starts to get warm when I turn it off for about 6hrs it will refreeze

It sounds to me like the defrost isn't working somewhere. It freezes for 2 weeks until the evaporator coil freezes over and you lose your airflow, hence, your cooling. Then when you shut the unit off for 6 hours it thaws out enough to get you cooling again for 2 weeks.Check your defrost timer and see if it is going into defrost and if your defrost elements are good. Both will be located on top of the unit. Good luck!

Both Lights flashing and fridge not getting cold

I turned the fridge and freezer off using the circular dials, I then turned the unit off at the mains. Left it for a few minutes and then turned the power back on. I then turned the circular dials to "max" and then depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons to turn this facility on. This time they came on normally (not flashing) and no alarm sounded. The fridge and freezer then started to get cold. Once the unit had been running for several hours I then turned the dials to the 3/4 mark and depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons again to turn them off. Over night the fridge and the freezer appear to be working properly so I hope that my problem is solved. Maybe the unit just needed to "settle" before being switched on?

Runs -6far. for about 2 weeks, then alarm sounds, unit is warm.

its the problem of the motor which runs the fan.that motor needs replacement.a very chance it can be possible that the motor is perfect but the wirings from the motor which connects to the fan are faulty and got cut in between.but it can be possible.so first check out the wirings if they r perfect then its faulty fan  motor.get it replaced. thanks.
