3.5 " top to bottom area on left side clear and brite like HD but about 80% of the entire screen to the left of this is slightly duller as if there is a shade over the left side. TV is less than 2 years old.

the backlighting in the tv might be going out. that is the first hing to look at. it might also be the liquid crystal display itself. you can look for the backlighting yourself by unscrewing the back panel from the lcd tv. and simply turning it on. you will see if one of the lights is dimmer than the other or just simply out. if you dont want to do that yourself take it to a tv shop and just have them look at it. most tv repair shops coast to coast dont charge to look at it for you. if one does go to the next. they are in just about every city. I have a Samsung model UN70NU6900FXZand the problem I have is that the left side of my screen is duller/faded more than the right side.

Samsung sets with NU as the 2nd set of numbers were notorious for panel issues, sad as it sounds it may be time for a new set unless it's under warranty

Samsung TSL2793HF - Slight Right Side Pincushion and Horz Line Bottom to Top Until the TV Warms up

Yes, this is rare but I have seen it before--not fixable if it is what I think it is----It is what is called a Dome effect---the shadow mask in the picture tube is actually contracting and or expanding depending on temperature---

Directly behind the phosphor coating (the stripes that you see on the screen) is a metal screen--the holes or perforations in it line up with the stripes on the phosphor screen.

Some masks either have a material or a defect causing the dome effect----Not likely to be anything else---a Pin amp problem will not usually act the way you describe but a shadow mask inside the picture tube will act exactly that way.

Black bar on the top and bottom during watching the tv

Hello

If you are watching television and you see black lines on the left and right sides of the screen, check to see if you are watching an HD broadcast or a standard definition broadcast. You can do this by bringing up the TV guide menu on your remote. If the show is in HD, it should take up the full screen. However, if it is not HD, bars will be present on the left and right of the screen. That is because standard definition programing is in 4x3, which will not take up the entire screen.

If the picture you are watching not only has black bars on the sides, but on the tops and bottoms of the screen as well, your "Zoom" mode has somehow gotten off-kilter. Press the "Zoom" button on the remote until the image appears correct. If this does not work, power down the television, wait a few moments, and power the TV back on. The image should be correct now.

If the image on the screen looks stretched or squished, this is because your HD cable receiver is not set up properly for your widescreen television. Press the "Menu" button on the receiver

I have a 40' lcd samsung and have got 3 colored lines, a red, blue and green, about 3' in from the left hand side, anyone else had this problem or know how to fix please?

COULD BE A LOOSE LVDS CABLE, IF NOT THEN MAYBE A TAB BONDING ISSUE, YOU WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SCREEN, GIVE IT A SHOCK TEST, GENTLY SLAP THE BACK ON THE TOP MIDDLE AND SEE IF IT GOES AWAY OR CHANGES, IF THE LVDS CABLE IS LOOSE THEN IT NEEDS TO BE RESEATED AND COULD FIX IT, IF NOT THE SCREEN IS ABOUT 80% COST OF WHAT TH TV IS WORTH

Mitsu 65" DLP-picture seems washed out

Most likely cause of your trouble is dust on the small mirror inside you set. Your DLP set has 2 mirrors not including the DLP chip itself which has about 500,000 tiny mirrors. The 2 mirrors reflect the DLP chip image to the screen you view. The first is the main suspect it's about 4inches by 7inches. It's mounted on the bottom center facing backwards. This mirror faces slightly up and somtimes after time dust, smoke, dirt settles on it . The second fills the space of the entire back of the cabinet but it faces down and takes alot longer to get dirty.
The compartment is sealed but dust seems to find it's way in. If you remove the screws that secure the screen assembly from the top , sides and bottom. Make sure to have a friend available the screen assembly is delicate when it's not mounted to the cabinet. You can remove and clean the mirrors. These mirrors are glass and you can use glass cleaned. Don't use glass cleaner on the screen it's plastic. You can clean it if necessary with plastic cleaner only. Probably not needed.
Good luck.

Image/screen shifting with mouse position

I realized my issue was that the screen was "slightly" zoomed in using the universal access panel in the system preferences. Turning it off, or zooming out completely solved the problem.
