If routing and remote access is enabled on the server, it should handle the bridging automatically between the two nics...
Otherwise, simply turn off the DHCP in the router, have the server and
all the clients connect to the LAN ports, and they will automatically
get their address from the server. In this scenario, you don't need to
worry about the WAN port on the router.
But you might want to think about using the WAN port on the router to
provide an added layer of security rather than exposing your server
directly to the internet. You can set up all the port forwarding you
need on the router.
you can connect to your box via FTP via a crossover cable. If you can’t, you might want to read up on that before attempting this. Now, what we’ll need is… Ethernet cable (crossover or patch) Router Modem We’ll also assume that you have a router (wireless or not) and that your modem is connected to the ‘Internet’ or ‘WAN’ port. If you have a free port on your wireless router, you can connect your dreambox to this. Use the ethernet cable (crossover or patch, most modern routers will accept either) connect one end to your dreambox and one end to a free port on your router. You don’t need to change any settings on your router or PC. Over to the dreambox. Navigate to the networking page on your dreambox. Setup -> Expert Setup -> Communication Setup
Your router latest Firmware I can see on D-link website is 1.02 If you are referring to German web site page showing a dwl-g700ap_fw_revB_v213b06.zip file be sure to follow the instruction to UNZIP the web_dwlg700ap_v200_r11_0408.bin file: DWL-G700ap Firmware Update
If you did not unzip the bin file router cannot run it as firmware update More over be sure to run the update via LAN cable connection (no WLAN)
that is right the access point does not have a dhcp server. that will give an ip address to all of your computers or device connected to it wireless. If you have a modem with a dhcp server there will be no problem with the IP but if the modem does not you must have a router and now an access point.
well, what you could try is unplugging the power source from the cable modem, and the router. wait about 1 minute. then plug everything back in and wait.
i remember having this problem as well, but i think the problem with me was that my wireless computer was too far away from the wireless router, not saying that your too far or not, but that what i had, so i just pitched the wireless adapter, and created an ethernet connection. just sharing my experience.
