There are bright red lines (forming an upward spiral) running across the entire televison screen along with an overbearing red tint over the entire picture.

That is one truly unhappy device..sounds like the video board is on it's way out..could be the imaging system too, but then, you'd be looking at a whole system replacement
what's your technical capacity for doing this sort of work..mind you, these have some high volts floating around inside.
great picture..donate it to a local tech college instead...that is a major failure of the system, you are experiencing.

We may just push this one to the curb because it sounds like changing the video board and/or imaging system is beyond my expertise.
