i suggest you to buy a Maxell VP-100 VHS Dry Tape Video Head Cleaner, the head of the VCR is dirty that cause the tape get caught or stuck. hope this help you

When you put the player into rewind, is it at the beginning of the tape that it ejects? If so, it may be because you have the machine in timer mode. If you have a pre-recorded tape in a VCR, it will automatically eject the tape because you`ve not to record on a pre-recorded tape. I hope this help, Ian

All new VCR's are auto tracking however, you should be able to manually track it using your remote, or there are a few reasons that the auto track can fail, the tape may have worn or ragged edges which means that the control head cannot get a clean reading, the control head may itself need cleaning or the tape path requires adjustments, adjusting the guides really needs to be done by a technician as a reference tape is used, or that the heads are low and a good video signal cannot be obtained to gain a reference point....Phil

Most VCR's do have a sensor system inside. It consists of what looks like a bar that is standing up right in the middle of the area the tape sits down into, and sensors on one or both sides of the tape bay that detect this source. The source is usually an infrared diode, and it is most likely this diode that has malfunctioned. I would checjk to see if anything has gotten inside that might be blocking this sensor, if not then the diode probably needs replaced.

You could try cleanining it first that would be a simple solution

Go buy a video head tape or due it yourself radio shack has video head cleaner. Remove cover unplug clead small silver audio head on right side. good luck

Press the Channel up & down buttons at the same time and on most VCRs this deactivates auto tracking option. then press the up or down channel button to adjust tracking.You might try this first. pressing them both at same time reactvates auto tracking. This might not solve the problem but at least you eliminated one possibility.
