LG 55lh40.....6 months old. Screen started scaling today with green and now has gone completely black. Remote doesn't work, can't use controls on TV as well, including on/off. Only way to turn off power is to reset surge protector. I've shut it down and then restarted the TV. TV works fine for about 15 minutes and then back to the green screen which goes completely black after a while. Any thoughts?

Things to check: Make sure your TV is set to the correct input. I DK about the light flashing 16 times but that could be a stuck key on your remote control. If you can, urn off your remote and try turning on by hand and going through the "INPUT" choices to make sure you have it on the correct setting. BTW, if your TV is 5 years old, you'll make the money back in no tie if you get a new "Energy Star" TV. The new Energy Star TVs run on very little electricity compared to 5 years ago.
The remote interface of the TV died on mine, it was intermittent then it stopped completely. Remote control is fine, it's the remote sensor in the TV itself.
It seems that the audio IC has gone. Even LG may not be able to repair it economically. They are likely to scrap it. So, return it and buy a different piece. Before going to LG service center, check if the audio is not going to the BT
Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. This could be bad capacitors on the power supply board. My LG 42LB1DR has a known problem with this and I replaced the four bac capacitors myself and saved 5-6 hundered dollars that I was also told that it would cost to fix. I fixed for under 10 dollars and about 20 minutes. LG knows about it but they dont really want to admit it. My TV was only 26 months old when this happened. The four capacitors are made by Samxon and are 2200uf @ 10v. They are junk so even if you have the entire board replaced for say $200 its just going to happen again. They need to be replaced with a different brand.
