I don't have the installation cd but when i plug in the usb cord a wizard message pops up saying "found new hardware" but when trying to go thru the wizard it will not install it because it states that it was unable to find the hardware. Will i have to have the installation cd or is there a way i can install the printer without it???

connect the printer to the laptop via usb , power it ON. Then it will show a found new hardware message, then insert the printer driver CD, it will automatically install the driver and you're done. You can use the printer with the laptop.
It seems the Operating System does not have drivers for your new device or some portion of the drivers are corrupted. If you have the drivers cd for the USB stuff, install the drivers without attaching it to the pc ok. Attach the device when prompted or when completed. Make sure that any previous installations of the software and/or the device should be uninstalled. Good luck
Dont plug that printer into your computer without first installing the software. The drivers for that printer can be found at lexmark.com, then choose "Drivers and Downloads" on the top bar. Then type in your printer model number, and choose your operating system. After the installation is complete, you can plug your printer in, and it should find the drivers automaticly.
First uninstall the Lexmark and unplug it from your system. Next, do a SHUT DOWN. Turn on your system, load the CD, go through the installation process, then plug in your Lexmark.
