My brother MFC-5890CN won't print over my wireless LAN. It printed a test page I did from microsoft works with about 3 words in it, but when I try printing something larger like a pdf or powerpoint presentation it takes forever and always has an error. When printing via USB it prints fine. I have windows 7 and a new DLINK wireless N router. Any ideas why I am having such a hard time printing with my LAN?? Thank You!

SOURCE: have the brother mfc-5890cn having fax issues

Can you hear the receiving fax pick up the line? If so, you may need to slow the speed of your fax modem to allow for poor line conditions. You can find the instructions on page 12 of the Users Guide. If you don't have one, you can download a PDF file of the guide on the Brother web site.

Did you use Brother Genuine Cartirdges????
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine.

When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, mis-align the letters & put stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Im only getting balck and yellow i have a mfc 5890cn printer

Try to print a test page, if this comes out in black in yellow take out the cartridges and make sure the plastic is taken off the bottom and pop them back in. Do a test page again. Does it now print in colour and are there any errors on the machine or pc? i.e. out of ink?

Are you sure your model number is not MFC-5890CN?

Check to see if you are trying print with "Page Layout: 2 in 1" and the quality is set to Super Fine or Fine. Try changing the quality setting to Normal or Fast and try again.

If you are using the 2 in 1 feature and some of the borders around the document are not printed or lines are printed that shouldn't be there; the issue can be resolved by adjusting the print margins of the document from the page setup area of PowerPoint.

There have been recent updates to printer drivers for the MFC-5890CN. Please see here to download updated drivers ad software. You may also find the FAQ's & Troubleshooting section to be of assitance.

I can't print nothing from my PC or trough network, but still I can Scan, Fax, etc. I'm using Windows 7 Home Basic, I already installed the driver ( "Connection via USB Cable" ) and I have plenty enough ink ... I checked the Settings, Test Page is OK, but nothing else want to be pinted. I had a problem with my MFC 5890 in the very begining ( nearly 2 weeks ago ) so I had to unplug and than plug in the USB Cable and in this situation the printing of my "pending documents" was successful, but from few days ago there is no such a thing that could make it print. I have a brother MFC 5890CN printer and the yellow and magenta only prints a couple of squares on test after several cleans

It may be worth changing them again, you can on the odd occasion get a couple of duffers.

i would start afresh & do a head clean then a print test with a brand new set in.

If you get a perfect set of squares as the screen shows then its done if not repeat the head cleaning process untill you do, once you got those squares right your done.
