Drain pump on my dishwasher stays on all the time. The filter is clean now and when I pourclean water into the machine it gets pumped out OK. The bottom of thedishwasher is dry now. I checked the little float switch attached to apiece of foam and it seems to be working OK.
Dishwasher is an ASF645 Arthur Martin Electrolux. The model number is 911232112 according to info from the sticker on the inside of the door. It's a european machine.
This started happening after an incident when the filter was clogged upat the end of a wash cycle. I cleaned the filter but now the drain pumpstill stays on all the time.
When I switch on the machine for a wash cycle the programmer doesn'tadvance any further than the initial drain part of the cycle. If Iforce the program dial on by hand the drain pump goes off but the restof the wash cycle doesn't start (i.e. the dishwasher does nothing atall).
Any ideas what the problem could be?
I dismantled and checked various parts of the dishwasher and everything seemed to be working. I noticed with a phase tester that the pressostat never got any voltage. This led me to check the microswitch on the door which turned out to be broken (never making any connection). This is the microswitch that turns off the dishwasher when someone opens the door.
So an unusual problem - two faults at the same time i.e. clogged and overflowing drain and broken door switch!
I ordered and fitted a new door switch and now the machine is working fine again.
Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due
to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that
the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is
present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and
drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump
completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller &
clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the
complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...

Hi
If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound. If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve.
Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.
The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes.
Hope this helps...
