Why speaker hum when connecting preamp out cable to Receiver

An audio hum like you are describing is usually from a bad wire or connection. It could be a filter capacitor from a power supply too. Try other cables to see if that helps.

Convergence is off on jvc av-56wp30

You will need to install a convergence repair kit which contains two Convergence ICs STK392-110 and then the associated resistors as usually a JVC will Need at least 1 or 2 of the resistors when the ICs fail. You can get the kit for your model at the following link which has the IC and all the resistors plus step by step detailed instructions on how to do the repair. This kit fits your model JVC

Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment

There is no Phono input on your JVC.

What TT are you trying to hook up? If it's a traditional one you would need a preamplifier to boost the tiny signal from the cartridge to a suitable level for the AUX to use.

If you have an old traditional receiver with a Phono section hanging around you could rig something up between it and your JVC.

Plug the TT into Phono on the old receiver. Run RCA cables from any Tape REC output to the AUX. Done.

Convergence

did you replace the convergence resistors with the ICs? The resistors often get increased resistance when the ICs go out and if they dont get replaced you can have a next to impossible time adjusting the convergence properly, as they have to be within 5% tolerance. You can get the resistor kit for your JVC at the following link. Its Called JVC convergence resistor kit #1. Heres the link.

JVC AV-48WP30 Resistors

no, they are special resistors they need to be metal film 5% 1 watt resistors. Radio shack wont have them. You can get some at the following link, but they have a 10.00 minimum order so you may have to purchase a couple exrtra for spares but they do ship for free. Heres the link.
