Can't download pictures

I took a bunch of photos for the first time with my new FinePix A600 but I cannot download them. I can scroll through then fine on the camera. On the WinXP pc the USB sees the device as "FUJI USB-DirveUnit..." but I cannot browse the photos on the pc and FinePixViewer doesn't see anything. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong ?

Thanks for any help.

Well.. someone here, at the office, found the solution.. there was a network drive that was overmapping the drive letter to the USB device and so the pictures could not be viewed. I changed the FinePix USB drive mapping in MyComputer/manage/disk management to Z: and now I can download my photos. Just in case anyone sees this...

I am having trouble downloading pictures from my A600. I am just back from travelling and have been downloading pictures alot, but it seems to have stopped working all of a sudden. when i connect the usb the finepix viewer is blank with no photos but i can browse through them on my camera. i thought id be able to put them onto a cd but went into asda to use the machine and they didnt show up on their viewer either. does anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be?

I can't download the pictures from my camera, neither with a cable into the camera or with the XD- picture card. I can see the pictures on the camera, though, so I know I haven't lost them, but I have tried with several computers and I can't get them.

One way to solve these is to get a usb card reader. That will eliminate problems with camera drivers, and programs to download from cameras.
Also, you can use a card reader for many cameras, and no need to use drivers for each camera.

You can edit and save files on cds or dvds after your editing. I do not use camera drivers and programs any more unless I really have to. For one thing, I have many cameras I am using and working on, and it does not make sense any more to install software and drivers for every camera.

When I try to turn on my FinePix A600 is beeps, the lens comes out, the light on the back flashes yellow, then it flashes red, the lens goes back in and the camera turns off. I bought a second FinePix...

I'm curious....the camera came out in 2006....how did you buy a second one?...and more importantly, why? If something doesn't work, the first thing people do isn't to go out and buy another one. Anyway, from your description, the problem seems to lie with the cards, not the camera. All memory cards must be formatted (sometimes called "initialized") in the camera before use and regularly after downloading the pics to the computer. This erases the card and brings it back to original condition so download any pics you want to save using a separate cardreader if necessary and then, format/initialize them in the camera. Also, how old are these cards?....they don't last forever.

Ineed to load my camera on myPC running windows7 so I can download pics

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

Finepix a600, in memory full, won't take photos

Connect it to your PC, using the USB cable provided.

Click on my computer, you should see another HDD drive appear, it may be called Fuji or mass storage device.

Double click on that, you'll see folder, double click on that you should see the pictures stored on the internal memory of your camera.

LCD screen wont work

I had this problem w/ my canon. It is a cracked LCD screen. I took the camera apart and replaced the LCD screen. I ordered the new one for $50 including shipping. you may have to do some detective work to find the part you need. I used a screwdriver for eyeglasses.
