How do i access hinges on an Evo 1015v and where can i get the parts?

You don't say what make and model it is, but commonly you would need to remove the door from the oven hinge attachments, then remove the door inner panel to gain access to the hinge attachments. Spare parts can be difficult to get for older models.

I "inherited" a 6210xi because BOTH hinges were broken... poor and weak plastic design that breaks if the operator tries to raise the access past about 40 degrees for access to ink cartridges... of course after the hinges break it doesn't close properly to start again (except with creative taping!). In my pursuit of these parts I found that the lower hinge part (broken) Part#JB6100289A is actually a Samsung part for their SCX-15 printer/scanner. It was also interesting to find several of these 6210xi's for sale on eBay and other places for $10 or less as "broken, parts only" and AMAZINGLY, it was the same broken hinge part that put all of these out of service. Found the HP Part number as RG5-6317-0000N but couldn't find anything except to buy either the Top half of a whole 6210 or the Bottom half for hundreds of $$'s, far more than the WHOLE new working item would be. UED.net listed the part as "non-stocking" at $2.27 each, available Aug 8, 08, but it turned out to be that they are negotiating for access to that parts and VIOLA! a few months later I received SIX hinges at $2.27 each plus shipping. You have to be creative to keep your old stuff working.

If its a bad hinge you can buy those as long as you can screw the hinges down to case you should be fine.

Pull up on the door to remove it from the hinges.
Remove the pan drawer on the bottom. Remove the spring from the hinge to be replaced. Remove the hinge mounting screws. Remove the hinge.
Reverse this process to install the new hinge.

Hi! This solution is very late, but I just came across the original post. Maybe it will still do you some good.

You need to replace the display hinges. There are vendors online who sell them (www.blueraven.com for one) but they are expensive. Right now there is a vendor on eBay offering a set cheap. If you see this solution soon enough, check it out here.

Most Compaq units use the F10 key to enter the BIOS shut off your notebook if it is in hibernation though you may have to shut it down fully by pressing on the stand by power button and pulling at the power notch they should be located at both sides near the hinges of the screen if this does not work remove batteries this will surely bring your notebook to shut down. replace batteries then press power then press the F10 as soon as the Compaq logo comes out. Hope this works some Compaq models nee to be realy shut down before the F10 could be accessed

sounds like a bad screen this might be able to be remedied by hooking the laptop straight to a computer monitor threw the ports provided in the back
also you could have bumped something loose inside like a video card if any cards or memmory comes loose this will give you black screen of death the laptop will have to opened and cards pressed down gently
theres the solution of your power supply on the laptop went out and you need a replacement
if power supply went out it doesnt hurt your comp it just makes it hard to run

Under the right hand hinge, the plastic hinge cover has cut into one or more wires

Unplug the battery, unplug the mains, carefully undo the 2 screws immediately under the laptop AT THE TOP in the middle undet usb / VGA socket roughly (on the base)

the plastic panel around the power on button (and volume buttons) will pop out carefully

take off the hinge covers carefully

examine the wires... solder them, insulate ... you will see the problem

the laptop "strecthed" out with the screen open strecthes the nicked wire and it disconnects... when you shut it, it reconnects

there are service manuals google search for compaw evo service manual, or hardware maintenance manual the lcd covers do need to be pryed off gently, you get the lcd frame odff by bending the frame upwards, towards yourself, every few inches. the bottom has 2 or 3 srews to remove first, and sometimes a wireless antenna on the front (top) of the lcd has 2 screws inside as well)

Ebay the model and see if someybody is parting your model out. The "hinge" can cost up to $100 for one side if purchased new. I needed both sides and the diplay clamshell for my Toshiba and got it for $35, including a signal cable and invereter.
