Philips 32pt television screen format off center, to the left

Our Philips flat screen 32 inch HD tv is off center. It has "shifted" to the left. Picture is good, but if words are in the left of the screen you cant read the first couple of letters. I have adjusted screen size to 4:3 (it is not on expanded) but there is still about 2 inches of black on the right side and the left is way left.....dont know how or why this has happened. cant seem to get it back to center?

For me it was the cable box settings...

I'm not a tech person, so take this for what its worth. I had the same problem with my Vizio and my Time Warner Cable HD/DVR box using the HDMI cord connection. HD channels were always fine, and non HD channels were fine until I went to an HD channel and back. When switching back, the non-HD channels would be shifted to the left as you describe. After much back and forth with both Vizio and Time Warner (each saying its caused by the other), I stumbled across the following fix...

I went into the cable box (scientific atlanta 8300) "settings", under "display," under "output resolution." There was a list including 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and "auto select." I unchecked both 480 options and left 720 and 1080 checked. Problem solved. The other "Display" menu settings are as follows: Picture Size = Stretch, Aspect Ratio = 16x9.

Hope this helps.

Philips flat sreen t.v. question

It is not normal. Try pressing the FORMAT button on the Philips remote. If the problem still persists, try pressing the Zoom or View button on your cable or satellite remote. If neither resolves your issue, there may be a problem with the LCD screen - call Philips and get in contact with an Authorized Service Center.

Picture not centered on my philips 47'' lcd tv

NOTE:(Edited and copied from another thread on Fixya.com, c7carl)

Picture is not centered on monitor leaving a 2 1/2 inch; black border on Philips LCD
By dmorrow54 on Nov 13, 2007
Again, nothing in manual for Philips LCD will correct the fact that the picture in HD-D mode will not center. The picture runs off the monitor on the left (facing the monitor) with a 2 1/2" black border on the right (facing the monitor). Using the format button on the remote of directional arrows will not correct the issue. The wide-screen/ full-screen function with format does nothing. Moving into TV mode, the format function works to display screen in several ways 4:3, 19:2, super-zoom, wide-screen, full-screen. Help, please. posted 3 years ago

I have a Philips 30 inch LCD and solved the problem by using the circular arrow button on the TV remote. Pointing it at the TV and clicking "right" (3 o'clock on the button), the picture moved right. Same thing on for "left". Worked for me.

WOW! It works!! The picture on my Magnavox (aka Philips) 37MF321D had shifted to the right. I figured I had a big repair bill coming up soon. But hey! Just used the TV remote as described by "Guest', and re-centered the picture to the left. Wallah! Thanks ""Guest" whomever you are! Reply

On Philips LCD and Plasma TV's you can center the picture left and right and also vertically. Use the round joystick in the center of the remote to see of you can shift the image to the left.

The whole screen is shifted 1 inch to the left.

When in high def and on the PC the formate buttom on the remote is disabled. The formate will have to be done with the high def remote or through the PC. You will have to contact the high def and the PC provider to adjust the format.
