Try two sources, dvd player or game system and if the picture is the same it is for sure the tv. This is a common issue in T.V.'s when they are older. Menu functions begin to stop working.

Tcl dim screen

If the picture mode is set to Cinema or Custom, the screen could become dark. If the screen is still dark after the picture quality mode has been changed, change the setting Backlight, Picture, Brightness and adjust the brightness to your taste. ... Depending on such settings, the picture brightness level can be higher or lower

Low brightness. Can not adjust. Push brigntness function on screen and no slider comes up on screen. I have a Z665C and know how to adjust brightness.

Go to Control Panel, make sure that view by is on large icons or small icons and choose Power Options.
Click "change plan settings" next to the active dot. Then use the slider to adjust plan settings

Hi My screen is really dark when inside night pictures. I have tried to increase brightness. But can't adjust. Can you help plse ?

The set may have an ambient light detector - if so then the set up options will allow you to vary the screen brightness - a simple check to find out if this could be the problem would be to display an image during the day then if possible close the blinda and make the room dark - alternatviley do the same at night then switch the room lights on and off and see if the brightness changes.

The brigntness is loa and I am clicking on fn and f7 to increase the brigntness but it is not functioning. What to do to increase the brightness?

You may have a faulty ballast unit. They are fairly cheap on ebay and easy to fit. Just unscrew the four screws holding the bezel on to the screen and it is there, under the screen.
Hope that helps.

Dark picture!

The Lamp it self, the Ballast, or the Power Supply that powers the Ballast. Even a combination of the Lamp and Power Supply is a common problem. If you have not replaced the Lamp since you have owned the set I would replace that first. The Lamp has about a 3000 to 5000 hour life span.
Hope this helps,

Indoor photos are too dark and skin tones orange-ish

I have the same problem at my church with the indoor lighting on my camera. I'm able to get it work by putting the whole thing on manual and adjusting the lighting settings that way.

Adjusting darkness

Hi Angel,
Are you really sure , your set has video? How dark is it ? As if really nothing visible? Am, sure you can hear sounds. You can adjust the brightness + button to increase the brightness. But if nothing happens , you have problem with your TV set. The problem might be in the Video section. Please let an expert technician to check it. Please don't do it by yourself, it's risky.
Please send feedback whatever comes up. So we can help you further in the future.

Thanks,
Eriez

Dark picture (HELP)

Open up the back of the set but be very carefull. Notice a large black block with a large red wire that runs up to the picture tube. on one side of that large block where the thick red wire is comming out of are two controls, one should be marked focus or F and one should be marked screen or S. With the set operating normally and not touching anything else, slowly turn the control marked screen or S clockwish till the picture gets bright enough. If you go too bright the set will shut down or you see small thin white lines so back down on the control. then touch up the focus and your good to go. good Luck.
