Consider this. If your vacuum is still under warranty, removing the hose will void the warranty on the hose. I strongly recommend calling an authorized dealer/consultant.
Although it may seem to be fairly simple to remove the handle, there are wires that need to be disconnected in order to separate the handle from the hose, gaining access to the toy. And reconnected. If not properly done, attempting this may lead to needing to purchase a new hose.

Depending on the age of your 2100, you will need to replace, the wand cord, the handle wiring and perhaps theh upper wand inner tube and handle as well.
If you examine your cord contacts they will be blackened from slippage, so will the female socket they plug into. On and aging 2100 the 1/2 inch groove at the front of the chrome handle tube begins to wear and the metal inner tube clip under the thumb button of the wand develops play back and forth. The wand comes apart into 4 pieces, plastic sheath, upper and lower tubes and cord assy.
If the hose handle groove is worn enough to allow in and out play, you will need to replace the handle, it's wiring, and at least the clip button on the upper wand as well as the wand cord.
You will find these wand parts at a pro vacuum shop but if your hose is original you will need to go to an AERUS Electrolux repair center for parts.

remove the handle from the body of the unit slide the handle all the way out there is a small button on the plastic coller press it in and pull the handle free lay the hose on the floor and at the base of the hose there is a hook put one finger under the hook and just between the hose and the body you will see a clip that is locked into the body put your thumb on the clip pull it towards you and as you do this lift the hook and the hose coller will come out it can be hard to get it out so take your time

Hi there smartalec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. I assume you mean that it got squashed and now the handle part that ordinarily slips inside the flexible hose is now permanently stuck in the flexible hose?.
If this is the case remove the two pieces as if they were one complete part. This can be done by removing the bin assembly, unclipping the hose / handle assembly at the top tilting it backwards and then unclip at teh bottom where the hose joins the body of your dyson vacuum cleaner.
Once you get both bits of the vacuum try and separate them again. It is unfortunately fair to assume that either one or both will need replacement but at least once their off the vacuum you will be able to see how bad it is.

If the hose is non-wired then you can fix this yourself. When you Plug the cuff into your wall inlet does the vacuum turn on automatically? If so then you should be able to trim the hose with no ill effects other than losing eight inches of cleaning area.

If the hose has a switch on it's handle that turns the vacuum on and off, you will probably need a technician to fix the hose. Some wired hoses even have High Voltage lines in them and should never be taken apart.

How do you dismantle handle to replace aforementioned hose?
Swing arm on unit goes all the way to the floor. Is this normal? Is there a "stop" broken that caused the hose to stretch, and ultimately break?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover SteamVac Carpet / Upholstery Deep Carpet Cleaner.
There are handle screws that you can get into the handle and then you can back track the replace the interior hose for the cleaning attachment. There should not be a stop that caused the hose to stretch ad break. The hoses after a while do get old crack and break due from normal use or if the bend @ sharp angles, this is common among all vinyl vacuum cleaner hoses. You should really check with your local factory authorized Hoover vac dealer in your area or , please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

It probably wouldn't help, it sounds like the switch. Have you tried pushing the reset button? (It's a little red button on the end of the power nozzle.)
