After so many prints the printer gives you this warning because it is possible that the waste ink pads (that collect any spilt ink in the bottom of the printer) are full. You have two options. You can either reset the waste ink counter and the printer will run but might get some ink leakage if it has had a lot of use or replace the pad and reset the counter.
A waste ink kit for this printer is Canon part number QY5-0149-000. A quick search on the will get you the part for about £5. Too fit it you will need to take the printer apart but that is easy with a service manual from here:

I have installed refilled cartridges from Cartridge World on my iP1800 series Canon printer and the low ink warning stays on. I have removed and re-installed the cartridges to no avail. I know they are full and it is not preventing me from printing. Should I just ignore it or is there a reset feature I don't know about?
It would be helpful if one would know where to find the "reset" button mentioned in the solution.
