I recently picked up a dehumidifier with no manual and digital settings.......... my question is this, I want it so it dries out the basment as much as possible, so do I set it to the 20% setting or the 70 % ????

The readout shows Relative Humidity in percentage % where 100% would be soaking wet and 20% would be dry. The weather station on my desk show my room is 32% and DRY. You need to lower the number from 58/60% to make it remove moisture.

Well life span is 3-15 years depends how long and hard you run them. 45 pint is about 1000sqft basment. rule of thumbs bigger better. run less and do a better job. Againg, if theres no moister in the air it wont remove water. if you feel the location for exmaple a basment feels cool when entering , then mosuet exist. dehumidifer will make any location warm when removing the coolnest in the air. within summer hot months it will collect more water than in the winter months. if it does feel cool and machine dont remove the water. call a repair person.

Humidity, [Swetting] until the Room is totally dried out.Remember you are also drawing off infloor and underfloor dampness too.

As I've recently posted a message, I've a similar unit with broken internal fan. I just placed an external fan in front of the unit and blowing front to back. With the air circulating, the unit is humming along happily and bucket fulls of water to harvest!! Don't bother fixing the fan motor, if that is the only problem, just place a small external fan instead.

I am having the same problem with mine and it has started freezing up for no reason. Did you get any answers
