Check all speaker connections. unplug everything.. start with just L and R speakers. Do a mic calibration..also check all your source inputs to the amp. start from the basics. Is the amp still under factory warranty? I used to install marantz...also make sure unit is well ventilated. IF you are using audio zones in your place..with in wall volume controls..make sure they are impedance matched. VOLUME may be set to high...overdriving the outputs..eventhough audio may not be loud. Set volume to -30...?

I have sky tv and a marantz system, marantz system flashes pcm dig and tv loose signal intermittently, help

Your Sky box might need a firmware refresh. Switch it off at the mains socket. Press and hold down the BACKUP key on the SKY BOX (not the remote). Switch on at the mains and keep the backup key pressed down until the TV shows an info screen that the box is updating.

Allow the box to complete the cycle.

Try your system again.

How do i attatch preamp to marantz sr9200 for phono

If you are talking about a phono preamp, take the output rca cables from the turntable, "red and white" plug it into the preamp input, "labled" next take a red and white cable wire male ends, "3 to 6" feet long, and plug the one end in the output of the preamp, "labled" and finally plug the remainder into the AUX input of the Marantz receiver matching the colour codes so the left and right channels don't get mixed up, you now should be good to go.

My kenwood vr-616 keeps cutting off while listining to the radio or watching the dvd, I have plugged the dvd into a different power supply and the dvd keeps playing but the system shuts off and the power...

Hi,

The unit may be overheating and shutting down to protect itself.

Please check the fan grills and make sure they are not clogged up with dust as can often happen to amps and receivers. If that is the case then a vacuum cleaner can be used to remove the dust.

If the unit is inside a cabinet try running it outside the cabinet. If it runs for longer before shutting down then this would indicate that it is overheating.

I had the same problem with my Sony home theater amp/dvd and cleaning out the dust cured the problem.

Please rate my answer if this helps.

Many thanks,

Chris

Mute function on the amp

A couple of questions to try and narrow this down:

1) What is the impedence rating for the speakers?

2) When the unit shuts down, will it recover on its own after a little while or do you need to power cycle it to get it to work again?

3) When the unit shuts down, is it hot?

Possible causes of this behavior:

1) Impedence rating too low causing the amp to work too hard and shutdown.

2) Excessive heat (caused by #1?) will shutdown the unit to prevent damage.

3) Possible intermittant short in the speaker wires somewhere? Loose connection?

A little more investigation will be required to find this. A repair shop would run this unit under load and monitor the outputs for heat and any spikes in the signal that could kick in the protection circuits.

Keep us posted on what you find.

What would work better for Marantz SR 4200 Apple Composite or component cable? In order to play music through the amp as well as watching videos

Component Video is a big step up the food chain in quality. Component Video inputs are for video only, not for audio. I don't see Component Video inputs on the Marantz SR-4200; only Composite and S-Video. S-video would be a step up from Composite and it carries analog stereo sound.

You don't give any clues as to the source's audio capabilities.

Digital Audio of either flavor is preferable. Grab the best possible TV-related audio from your Cable/Satellite box to the Marantz and run a pair of RCA audio cables to your TV just in case you want to watch the weather channel without hi-fi sound.

Marantz PM-74D

OOPS-forgot to mention if your bias turns out ok after replacing any blown outputs, turn it off and resolder the collectors (center) pins of all 4 output transistors and turn it back on-should work but you'll need to recheck bias and dc offset. They appear to both be adjustable on the board sticking up on the top side-it's right in the middle and has 4 trim pots on it......

It froze

Reset button will turn it off (actually, volume + plus play at the same time, I believe will reset it). - if the problem persists, then go to www.usasupport.philips.com and upgrade the firmware for your GoGear. Windows Media Player 11 will cause intermittent freezing on this device.
