I have a 55 inch Mitsubishi Big Screen Television model #VS-55705. It turns on, but if you turn it off, it takes about an hour before you get a picture or sound. There are vibrating horizontal white lines running continuously on the screen. I sure would appreciate any assistance. Also, does anyone know where I can buy a repair manual for this model? Thanks, very much!

Green light flashes under timer when tv is turned on. no picture

Sounds to me that the DM is the cause. If this model is 7-8 years old, it uses a DM that is no longer available or supported by Mitsubishi. You could confirm this by calling Mitsubishi at 1800-332-2119. This is there Customer Service Line.
Hope this helps,

55 inch with blue ghost like glow on white or blue colors

Inside of your TV their is a fluid that keeps the tubes cool. Over the years this fluid will turn cloudy and cuase the screen to look dull, bright white, have halos, etc. You can get the fluid over the internet from various sources or your can get a complete kit including repair instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com.

"Halo" Effect

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Pink horizontal line when the tv is powered on.

1. White raster with no signal, washed out looking video with signal. Access the service menu, "menu 0357" use the audio button to select "video chroma" adjustments, use the video button to select item "40 - AGIW", use the adjust button to change the setting to 0, then press the enter button to store the change.

Phillips/Magnavox 9P5544C102 white raster and shuts down

This denotes a problem called blooming the horizontal lines you see are called retrace lines this is caused by the increase in anode voltage which could be caused by an increase in HV section current which trips the overcurrent protection dircuit and turns the TV off.If you do not have electronics experience I would suggest taking the set to a TV repair shop.
