Make sure you can see the Secure Digital host controller and
Texas Instruments PCI GemCore based smartcard controller in the Device Manager. If its missing, re-download the drives from HP.

If you are trying to use a SDHC Memory Card in the reader,
you will need updated Win XP TI drivers as the ones on the HP site
do not support the newer memory cards.

This goes for the nx5000's nx6110's nc6120's and nc6320's.
Updated XP TI drivers are needed

SOURCE: SD card reader not recognizing card

the original file (apparently version 2.0) is here:
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:2288as3q0skJ:www.asus.it/support/download/selectftp.aspx%3Fl1_id%3D3%26l2_id%3D45%26l3_id%3D0%26m_id%3D1%26f_name%3DCardReader_050118.zip~zaqwedc+CardReader_050118.zip&hl=en

the updated driver (version 2.3) is located here:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=V6V&SLanguage=de-de
scroll down to where you see RICOH card reader driver

or more specifically this link here:
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/V6V/CardReader_XP_2K_050808.zip

even though the site is primarily in german, all the component names are in english, go figure. So it would seem that the asus comp manufacturer are a little more forthcoming than dell in this particular instance. for example, nowhere on my component sheet does it say that RICOH is the manufacturer for the card reader, that's something i got from you guys on the forums

anyway, after installing this driver and rebooting my comp, card reader immediately recognized both MMC and SD media. unfortunately, it was only able to access the mmc card, and i'll be shipping my comp off to dell for whatever motherboard replacement they're willing to give me (which i don't mind, so long as it works when it comes back to me) but i thought these links might be helpful for others who are having the same problem.

Help me import from nikon cool pix s210 to Wlndows Live Photo Gallery 2011....laptop not recognizing camera

The best way to transfer pictures from a camera with an SD memory card is to do it outside the camera. If your computer does not have an SD card reader built in, you can buy an external USB card reader for $20 or less on E-bay, Amazon, etc. Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it in the card reader. Your computer will treat the card reader and SD card just like it treats an external hard drive. Either drag-n-drop or copy and paste your pictures from the SD card file to a file on your hard drive. If after you have copied and backed up your files you want to reformat your SD card, replace it in the camera and format it in the camera, not in the computer. SD cards formatted in a computer will often not work in your camera because of slight differences in the formatting.

Alienware area 51 card reader not recognizing 64gb exfat sd card

I would check you have all the latest updates for your Vista installation as I know for some versions of Windows extra updates are necessary for exfat support.

Does the SD card read; is it accessible; in other devices?

I have a PNY usb 2.0 combo. The usb ports work fine and read external drives etc. The SD readers quit working. The SD cards read fine on the internal mounted reader. My PC recognizes the drives, and t

I bought a deer cam (trail camera) at Walmart and a PNY card with PNY Multi-Slot USB & Flash Card Reader P-UBSDRDR21K-RF. I can't make them all work for me. PNY card reader has no instructions on the package neither on their website and their support is a joke. When I plug in this multi-slot card reader into my PC (I tried two different PCs) something isn't right. I get no results, just empty folders. The card is new and has data on it. Both products come from PNY, both were purchased at Walmart and both are going back to Walmart for a full refund and I will never buy a PNY product ever again.

Micro sd card is not visible or computer is no t recognizing it...what should i do....

You might try updating or reinstalling the sd card reader. Right click the computer icon on the desk top.

Then choose device manager from the side menu.

I have Vista I think Windows 7 look pretty much the same. In XP the properties window will have tabs at top. Find the sd card reader in the list of hardware click the + sign and it should pop up the type of hardware you have right under it. If you can't find it this means the driver is not installed, there will be a red circle with line through it if the driver is not installed.
If it is there, after you click the plus sign and see the hardware, right click the hardware ( sd card reader ) and choose update driver. Choose the option to auto install from internet.
To uninstall and reinstall right click the sd card reader and you'll see an uninstall in the drop down menu. Choose the uninstall and then reboot the PC and it should auto find the sd card reader for you.

Please rate, and write testimonial if you feel the need to, if this was helpful.

My computer is not recognizing my PNY SD 1GB memory card. I can still take pictures and my camera saves them to the memory card, but when I try to transfer the pictures to my computer, it does not...

In this instance, you might want to consider either borrowing, or, purchasing and card sd reader. Some computers just don't read these cards from their built-in slots, so, using an sd card reader often fixes the problem.

Hope this helps. :)

Pc not recognizing sandisk micro sd

The Card Reader you are using is probably not compatible with SDHC Memory Cards (High Capacity SD). You may need to get an SCHC compatible reader or check the website for your product to see if the is a driver update. You can get a new reader for about $20 bones if needed. I had the same issue.
