ADF rollers go up and down.

I have a Conon Laser Class 710 fax machine. The rollers in the ADF move up and down about 5 to 6 times when a document is placed in the feeder and the start button is pushed. After the 5 or 6 times the rollers stop and the error alert sounds. Can you tell why this is happening and how to resolve the problem?

Here's what you can do to address the issue and clear error message: Document in ADF.

If you press the Stop button during scanning, Document in ADF. Redo operation after checking document in ADF and pressing OK. appears on the LCD. Press OK button so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.

Removing the jammed document from the Document Tray:

1. If printing is in progress, press the Stop button.

2. Turn off the machine.

3. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any pages other than the jammed page from the ADF, then open the Document Feeder Cover.

4. Raise the Paper Release Lever, then remove the jammed page from under the roller to the Document Feeder Cver side.

5. Pull out the jammed document from the ADF.

6. Press down the Paper Release Lever, close the Document Feeder Cover, then turn on the machine.

Removing the jammed document from the inner side of the Document Cover:

1. If printing is in progress, press the Stop button.

2. Turn off the machine.

3. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any pages other than the jammed page from the ADF.

4. Open the Document Output Slot.

5.Open the Document Cover.

6. Insert your hand into the Document Output Slot, then while pushing up the paper output rollers inside the Document Output Slot with your fingers, pull out the document from the inner side of the Document Cover.

Document roller up & down

On the Canon copy machines when this happens, normally it is a bad wiring harness....sounds like your switch is good, but the signal for 'roller down' is not reaching the main board, thus it repeatedly cycles up and down. Try continuity test on the wiring harness from switch connector end to main board connector end...it's a pain to do this, however, when you find the open wire connection, it's worth it.

Canon image class 6550 adf area document to long error

You orginal feed rollers may be worn out. when this happens, the paper slips and the machine thinks the paper is too long.
You need to have the ADF rollers replaced.

Paper will not feed via ADF in Canon laser class 510 fax. keeps saying reset document when we try to fax or copy using either ADF or scanner. Briefly received error E337 (or could have been E377).

there is probably something in the paper path, double check and make sure no piece of paper is in it.
there is a small lever in the adf this is the sensor it should be able to move freeely and have a spring action, is it stuck?
are the guides set, and set to Letter?

No copy and send fax from adf unit

First try reseting the unit by holding the * key and the enter button and the same time turn it on until it starts beeping. This will rest the machine. If this does not work. you need ADF rollers the can be purchased for 20 to 25 bucks

CANON PC-1080F feeder error message

Well, open the adf and see if there's anything jammed in there. While you are at it, clean all the white out off the rollers and the scan glass. Then make sure the ADF cover is snapped shut properly
