Samsung lns5296dx will not turn on center blue on but not TV

LN-S5296D - Cheap Fix, replace the blown capacitors on the power supply, 1000 uF - 10V (anothe forum member reported that they used 35V capacitors to replace), less than $10 in parts and takes a little basic knowledge of electronics and soldering skills. I had 3 bad capacitors, some report more or less.
Expensive Fix, replace the entire power supply board, BN44-00150A, $140. If you can replace a computer motherboard, you can do this.
I ended up ordering and replacing the power supply board but after looking at it, I could've just replaced the capacitors. They will show a buldged top or there will be some black goo oozing out of the X's area at the top of the capacitor. Oh well, I now have a spare board for the future.
Symptoms: Blue light on, would not turn on. Unplugged waited and plugged back in the Blue light did not come back on but after a few minutes it did. Unplugged for about a week then the TV came back on but after shutting off it came back on and the picture was a garbbled and pixelated, no sound. After shutting off the blue light was flashing and would not turn back on.

Remotes no longer work

I had this exact same problem. After a week or so it started responding to the remote control again. Then after a couple of days it stopped responding. This problem came and went for about a month, then one day the entire TV went dead. When I powered it on, the green light appeared for 2 seconds followed by a sequence of 6 flashing red lights that repeated. I brought my set in to a repair shop and they replaced the power supply board. That fixed the problem and now the TV powers up and responds to the remote control again. Total charge was $250. That was very disappointing for a $1,500 TV that was only 18 months old. I'm going to let Philips know how disappointed I am in their product!
