LN-R408D Samsung LCD flat screen TV

I have a LN-R408D Samsung LCD flat screen TV, about 2 years old, that has sound but no picture. Took it to the repair shop and they can't seem to find out what is causing this problem. Any suggestions???

They must try to repair the smps [puff capacitors]first.then try a master reset thru the service mode.if these steps do mot solve the problem replace the t-con board on lcd panel.

How to master reset samsung LN-R408D

Unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 30 minutes or so. This must make a hard reset to this set.

Samsung LCD TV Screen is very dark but still shows picture

You either have a bad Power Supply or a bad Main bd. Worst case can be the inverters on the Panel have gone bad in which case the Panel needs to be replaced.

Sound yes, but no picture on tv

If you have sound on the stations this is a problem in the display. Take bright flashlight and hold it against the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight. If you see an image then it's one of three problems;
1) The inverter board is bad.
2) The CCFT (cold cathode fluoresent light) are bad.
3) The power supply to the inverter board is bad.
Someone knowledgeable in electronics can replace the bad part(s).

Gray screen

Try unhooking the LVDS cable from the controller board and see if it does the same thing. If so you need to replace the LCD panel.

Samsung LNR408D 40 in. HDTV

Sounds like a backlight going bad or possibly the inverter. Check each backlight first for dark discoloration on the ends. If that checks out good then it's the inverter.
