KitchenAid KSSC42QMS01 The condenser fan is not working. Is it safe to let the refrigerator run until the repairman can get to it or should I shut it off until it's fixed? I obviously don't want to cause any additional damage. Is the fan something an average handyman can fix?

You can have a regular small fan blowing on the compressor until the refrig fan motor is replaced . You should easily be able to replace . Only 3 screws hold the motor on .

It turned out to be the control board and not the fan.

Yes you can place a fan there and replace the fan motor if the fan is part defective. I would also want to make sure that you get 120 volts at test point P6 #1 to neutral coming from motherboard to insure the fan is the problem. I also have found that some models have a cycle relay place on condenser to turn the fan on and off as needed. Click here=> KSSC42QMS01 Wiring Diagram, I will try to locate a fan motor part number ASAP, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Sorry it was the control board.I did want you to check the power coming to the fan and not just change out the fan. I realize for some people that these things to do are best left for a qualified technician. At Fixya we have a lot of DIY, Do it Yourselfers that want to do it with assistance. A fan also will not always just stop when going bad. They also can damage the same part of the motherboard if not tested per Whirlpool's Authorize Technicians. Whirlpool now owns KitchenAid , Maytag, Samsung, Jenn-Air, Amana and the list goes on. Let us know if you have any other help request and just maybe it will be something easy, Thanks, also for telling us what the problem was. This helps many others as they read your post. Thanks, Sea Breeze

KitchenAid refrigerator model KTRS22ELBL01 fan keeps running nonstop

A common reason a condenser fan is continually running within a refrigerator is the thermostat. ... A basic test is to set the thermostat on the warmest setting; if the cooling unit continues to run, even when it's being told to keep the fridge warmer, you have a broken thermostat.

My fridge won t work no more ... both sides are warm

The most common problem is the condensing coil is probably loaded with lint and debris. In behind most refrigerator is a fan and it blows on condensing coils. If the condenser is dirty and blocks air flow, the cooling system can not shed the heat. These coils should be checked at least every year, more often if you have pets that shed a lot.
Hope this helps.

Our freezer and reridgerator temps are climbing and the front of the middle divider between the freezer and fridg is burning hot. What's the problem?

There is a condenser fan down at the compressor area that isn't running at enough rpms to properly cool compressor. You will need to clean the condenser coils and also install new condenser fan. The compressor is over heating and shutting down on internal overload. Replace this fan and you will be good to go. As an emergency aid you can pull unit from wall about 6 to 12 inches and place a fan in the front area out of your way letting it blow air thru the front over the compressor until you can get the fan. Hope this helps and good luck.

Kitchenaid Refrigerator

Built in KitchenAid means your fridge is in the price range of $ 10,000/=.

Most likely the compressor and condenser on the top of the fridge. That is why you get the ringing noise. May be compressor not starting properly. Starting device issue or compressor seized.

Shut off the fridge and call a local service guy or Whirlpool Corporation. No time to test this and that. Your fridge worth $ 10,000/=. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish.

Kitchenaid KSSC42QMS01 refer is beeping. display is also flashing. cools normally.cannot enter diagnostic mode. Have not seen condenser fan spin, even while compressor is running. no voltage at fan

three things to check out.
1)the fan wiring's are they getting cut in between or burnt or short.
2)if the wires are proper ,then its faulty fan motor the Fan needs replacement.
3) if the compressor relay is faulty then also fan will not work.the relay is located beside the fan and compressor.

Stopped cooling and freezing

check that the condenser fan is working and condenser is clean.. check that the evaporator fan is working may have to push switch in to make it run. if ice is visible behind rear freezerwall you do have a defrost problem find defrost timer and with a flat head screwdriver turn it until you hear a click and everthing shuts down. if yoou hear ice cracking you have a bad defrost timer(very common failure)you may have problem in the defrost heater but you might find that a little over your head and a repairman might be the cheapest way to go, because buying parts can be expensive and they are not returnable
