I have an Ativa Wireless G Router AWGR54.

I'm a total novice in this area, but hopefully I can sufficiently answer your question. The router is hooked up to the PC where the DSL modem would be plugged in. The DSL modem is plugged into the back of the router. It doesn't appear that this router can be turned off. I currently have the router unhooked, so we can do what we need on the PC.

Thanks for the help! After calling Ativa customer support for the 3rd time in 2 days, I finally was able to resolve this issue with a firmware update.

can you describe the layout of your network?  What is your wireless router being hooked TO, and how do you connect to the internet when the wireless router is not turned on?

When you say that everything works when the router is NOT hooked up to the PC, does that mean that you have the DSL modem connected directly to the computer?

then, when you hook up the router, you're connecting it BETWEEN the DSL modem and your computer?

You probably need to log in to your router and set it up to connect through the DSL modem to the internet: it may not do it automatically.

is this computer running windows XP?

if so, go to control panel, then network connections.

if you double click on the local area connection, and go to the support tab, it should list something like this:

Address type: assigned by DHCP
IP address: 10.0.1.100
Default gateway: 10.0.1.1

Try opening internet explorer, and typing in the numbers it lists for default gateway.  hopefully, that will bring up the configuration screen for your router.

I cannot play online games and whenever I download programs they are corrupted, can my router firewall cause this?

Router firewall might be a cause, but most likely is the file you are downloading is not getting downloaded properly.

It is also likely that if you are downloading cracked version of games then your computer anti virus is deleting certain files which are cracked, because crack is also a virus.

I have an issue with my Dlink DIR-625 wireless and cable modem

it isn't syncing up with your modem, try a hard reboot, disconect everything, even the cable, after 5 minutes , first screw the coax cable back to the modem, that will re establish the cable connection, plug everything back in, and if that pc light still is still doesn't work, the router may be bad, look on the Dlink site and download the latest firmware, as a last resort, but also reset the router first before trying anything, there is a reset button on the router. Sometimes certain routers don't work with certain modems, if you try the reset, then the hard reboot, and the firmware, you have covered all the bases

I have the belkin wireless adapter model # F5d7050 and the belkin wireless router and the adapter is always losing it's connection like every 30min when I'm just on the internet and every like 9mins when...

i had the same exact problem. not only is the adapter itself garbage, but the software and driver is garbage. i had to completely remove all traces of the driver/software from my computer, restart, hook up the ethernet cable and go to the belkin site to download the updated driver/software for my version of the adapter(very important to get the correct ones). i downloaded them and ran that set up. DO NOT use the software on the disc!!! it has the wrong driver file and will conflict with the right one you download. after i did all this, the adapter worked, but kept a weak signal. and you need to make sure you have the right network key that is set up on your router config. any questions - [email protected]

Not connected to internet

Try to clone mac of your main computer that is working in the loop, and enable dhcp on the router that you wish to connect.
