Sorry I forgot to mention when you are haveing that problem unplug your pedal if the Rewind stop definally is your pedal try your unit with the buttons on the front and if the unit respond normally is 100% your foot pedal control if not you cansend the unit to service Send an email to [email protected] or call (800) 644-9525. Hi,

it sounds like you need to use the rewind option first to rewind the tape. If the tape isn't rewound, then you're unable to play it. And this might cause the eject issue that you're experiencing as well.

Best dictaphone for conference Recording

Hello the Dictaphone 2740 does not have the option for telephone record or conference recording you need the Model that is really similar to the 2740 the model is 2750 this model has telephone record option and conference record capable.

Note: for telephone record you need to buy a separate adaptor like this ECS-DPRC

I have a Dictaphone Desktop Voice Processor Model 2720 and it won't play the tapes. It will rewind and fastforward but not play. I don't have the manual. Does anyone know if I'm not doing something right?

It's possible the play capstan belt is broken - or the main capstan motor is stalled.

How do i erase a tape on the Dictaphone 2740 transcriber?

Hello Just Press and Hold the erase button located on the bottom rigth then press rewind. All the rewind part will be erase.

The pull cord will not rewind

Sounds like the rewind spring has broken or the starting spool is broken or the piston is stuck. You will have to take the machine apart to see what it is that stops it from rewinding. I'm thinking spring.Good luck...Lee

Is this a standard-size cassette unit? Is the model number a 2740 or 2750? When you first plug the power in, does the machine make two clicking noises? Does the display show 'CAS' or 'No Cassette'?

Dictaphone Expresswriter 2740 Tape Won't Move

The problem is with the capstan motor. More than likely it has developed a 'flat spot' and won't spin up. The clicking noise you hear is the solenoids trying to pull the heads into place, but because the motor isn't turning, it can't pull the heads into place.

Foot pedal

If you cannot play, rewind or fast forward, but you hear a light "click" coming from the cassette compartment, then more than likely you have a broken drive belt, or the circuit controlling the play and/or rewind/ff mechanisms are out. In either case it sounds like you need to send it in or take it somewhere for repair.
