Comcast Remote Control - Won't accept remote codes
Comcast Remote Control - I am trying to program my Comcast remote for my Sony TV. When I follow the instructions the remote code does not seem to take. I have another Comcast remote which works exactly as it should according to the instructions.
For a sony TV I am to do the following. Select ''TV'' > Hold ''Setup'' until ''TV'' blinks twice > enter four digit code (0000,0111) > *** at this point the ''TV'' button should blink twice again, instead it does nothing. If I press the ''setup'' button again it will cause the ''TV'' button to show one long blink. This according to the instructions means the remote did not accept the code I entered.
I find this so strange because I have the exact same remote on another Comcast box and when I follow these instructions everything works fine.
I have tried taking out the batteries for a while to let any residual charge dissipate.
Is there a way to reset these remotes? This box was purchased off ebay and I live in Canada so there's no way of getting a replacement from Comcast.

Re: Comcast Remote Control - Won't accept remote codes
To reset the remote control, just take out the battery from the remote control, and reinsert it after an hour or so. The remote control will reset itself.
After that try to set it up with the setup code said for your device. You might have to try many codes before getting a code that'll have the most functionality with your device.
Setup procedure and set up code list of many popular brand remote controls are given by these sites. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/

To program your remote:
Turn on your TV
Using the code list, find the first five digit code that is listed next to the name brand of the TV that is to be programmed
On the Comcast remote, press and release the TV key
On the Comcast remote, press and hold the SETUP key until the TV mode key blinks twice then release the SETUP key
On the Comcast remote, enter the first listed five digit code Note: If this number is entered correctly and is an accepted TV code, the TV mode key will blink twice. If the code is entered incorrectly or is not an accepted TV code, the TV mode key displays one long blink and exits programming mode
Aim the remote control at the TV and press the POWER key once
The TV should turn OFF - if it did not turn off, repeat steps 1-6 with the next TV code listed, until a working code is found
This worked for me, but I have a Comcast Motorola DVD-R: These are the codes for your SONY SA-CT60 Audio Device. Follow the instructions below to program your remote. Most likely code: 30158 Others to try: 31758, 31759
To program your Comcast remote:
Turn on the TV or other device that you would like to program.
Press the TV button on your remote control. NOTE: If you would like to program your remote control to work with a DVD Player,
VCR or Audio device press the AUX button.
Press and hold Setup until the red light blinks twice, then release Setup.
Enter the first code for your device listed above. If you perform this procedure
correctly, the red light will blink twice. NOTE: If you enter an invalid code, the red light will display one long blink and
exit the programming mode. Repeat steps 2 to 4 with a valid code.
Aim the remote control at your device and press Power once (press the Play key for
devices that don't have a POWER button). If the TV turns off, make sure that the
VOL+/- and Mute buttons also work. If so, you're all set!
If not, repeat these steps using the next manufacturer's code (you may need to try
several codes to find the one that works).
It is possible that this remote will not program to your Comcast dvr. Your DVR is probably newer than the remote and has new codes that the remote doesn't support. The only thing you can do now, is either purchase a new universal remote that supports both units. or use your Comcast remote to program it to your TV. the Comcast remotes are programmable.
On the remote control, press the appropriate component button.
Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.
NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, repeat the procedure, entering one code at a time until you find one that works.
Press the ENT button.
Point the remote control at the component.
Press the POWER button to verify operation.
Comcast offers several remote controls. The type of remote you get depends on the device you're using. Some Comcast remote controls are multi-device or universal remotes, while others only control the set top box and TV.
The real problem with the Comcast remote is that there is no other
brand, it's not like a Sony remote that's relabeled or anything.
Fortunately, Google helps again, and it turns out Comcast has a page
online about programming the Comcast remote control.

I had the same problem with my remote. I would enter the code and there would be no response from the remote. I looked up the manual for the other comcast remote and the codes are 5 digits instead of 4. Try codes 10093 or 11602. The reason why there is no response from your remote is because it is waiting for you to enter the last digit of the code. Hope this helps.
It seems like most (maybe all) Sony HTIB do not work with the Comcast Custom Remote. I've found a work around that fixes the volume control and power button though. Hope it helps you all. I have a DAVHDX275 but I think this will work for most Sony HTIB systems.
What you need to do is steal some codes from a like product and then hardcode in the changes you need to the comcast remote. Set your AUX to 21232 (a sony code for TV/VCRs).
Then do the following:
1. While still on AUX, press and hold SETUP again until the remote blinks twice 2. Type 994 3. Press and release SETUP 4. Type 32975 5. Press and release VOL+ The remote should blink twice. That should reprogram the VOL+ to work with your Sony HT device. For each of the following function codes, follow the same steps and use the codes listed below: Vol+ = 32975 Vol- = 31951 Power = 32719
Good luck. Let me know if it works.
