This machine was recently purchased 'as seen' without an instruction manual. Can you help?

Thank you for your rapid response, and apologies for not immediately acknowledging your excellent service, which could not be better. I have now downloaded, printed and comb-bound the user manual, much to the satisfaction of the friend who bought the fax machine.

it might be the cartrige ink cogulated keep the cartrige in a mild hot water so that the ink would get loosen , make sure you wipe the catrige before replacing it.

Cannon b840,ink cartridege seems half full ,but fax comes through ist page perfect 2nd fuzzy,blank on all following pages

Sounds like the cartridge is empty. Your cartridge has a waste toner hopper that collects excess toner from being deposited on the page. The half full feeling might just be the weight of the waste toner.

Ive recently purchased a RICOH Aficio Super 180 G3...used.

press the "user tools" botton, then select "fax option",than "program fax information".You can change fax header there. "Time and Date" usually in "System" submenu.

Canon fax-B840 - Print is "stripey"

No not yet,the problem is the cartridge,sometimes even new cartridges might have a dry printhead
Remove you cartridge,put the printhead side in about 5mm of hot water and keep it there for 5 minutes,take it out and do head cleanning again.
