My camera is not downloading all the pictures onto the computer. The camera shows different pictures when I plug it into the computer than when I just put the card in and try to get the pictures. I also can not find some pictures using either method.

Check whether your system has up-to-date antivirus software. scan all of your system's drive using a good antivirus program. after completion, try again. don't forget to scan your camera memory card.

THere are pictures on this card that load everytime to Picasa but don't show up when installed in my Canon S100. I want to delete them from the card so they don't continue to download everytim

There are several possible causes for this.

1a) The pictures are in a folder unknown to the camera. This could be due to the folder name, or its position in the folder structure.

1b) The pictures have filenames that do not correspond to the camera's naming scheme.

2a) The pictures were taken by a different camera. Many cameras will not display pictures that were taken by a different camera.

2b) The pictures have been edited on a computer. Many cameras will not display altered pictures.

Unless you have very strong reasons for keeping some pictures on the card, you should have the camera format the card after you download the pictures to a computer. Formatting wipes out all information on the card, preparing it afresh for further use. Failure to format the card periodically can lead to future problems.

If you need to keep some pictures on the card, format the card in the camera, then use a card reader to put the pictures back onto the card.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Often in the cameras Setup menu there is an option to be set that makes the camera behave in one of two ways when it is plugged into the computer.

The setting is usually called USB:
The options are, "Disk Drive" and "Camera".

Disk Drive is what you want, so the camera behaves like a flash disk and shares your pictures with the computer when it is plugged in.

Camera mode, will make your camera behave like a web cam attached to your computer.

Finding this setting will requre the correct Mode the camera is in, (probably Review), and the correct menu, often there are different tabs for camera settings and picture taking settings.

Hope this helps.

Take your sd memory card out of your camera, and put it in your computer. A file with your pictures should appear. Copy thoes pictures into a different fold on you computer. Take you sd memory card out of your computer and plug it back into your camera. Your pictures will be both on your camera and on your computer.
