Sony walkman NW-003 not charging, can the battery be changed?

    OK dont worry about this problem, I eventually worked out how to take it apart successfully and expose the battery.
    After finding the battery number and searching online, it became obvious that it is cheaper to buy another MP3 rather than a new battery.

    I have the same problem with my wife's NW-E003F MP3 and decided to buy a replacement battery since she so likes this model and particularly the FM radio.

    I've now got the new battery (£26!) but cannot figure out how to take the MP3 apart to replace the battery. I've removed the two small screws ... so what did you do to access the battery? Thanks, Jon

    OK .. so I've found these instructions on how to change the battery, but still can't figure out how to start to lever the back off since the gap is far too tight to insert a credit card and I don't have the 'pry tool' that they refer to here. Any ideas on how to start removing the backing .... please?

Try this page. It is a Sony support page. I think you deleted the MP3FM folder, that folder contains drivers for the mp3 player. http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/downloads/downloads.asp?l=en&ct=NWF&f=MP3FM20

if you still have the receipt i suggest that you try to exchange it.I had a simular problem with mine and it was a manufacturers flaw

i have a sony nw e305 , same problem no detection and no charging even after it shows tht the battery is charging.. and the walman shows charge error at times...

u can get the software for it in sony support site also not all softwares support sony...

SOURCE: My Walkman won't charge

What I did when I got this error was to push the reset button on the bottom of the player itself... Mine rebooted and took a charge from the computer. Hope this all works for you.
