My kicker 12 inch cvr's arent hitting as hard as they should

amps and wiring kits are very optimistic on the output. If you want proper wire, buy some welding cable "0" or "00" guage. That solves the power delivery. Put a 1 Farrad (or more) capacitor near the amp, that solves the surge power issue. Make sure the box is suitable for the subs. Lastly I'd say do some research and find the right amp that can deliver the clean, huge current required to move some serious air!

I have two 10inch cvr kickers running off of a 2 channel 800w sony xplod amplifier...everything worked fine for about 3 months until my subwoofers just stopped playing sound..out of curiousty i opened my...

  • Yea, you blew the voice coil. Pressing on the cone where you are is hitting the spot that is making the coil connect again. Just like a shorted wire. Sometimes you can bend it and get a connection. You are gonna have to replace the sub.

No sound at all was working but all of a suden it just stop working it is not pop or any think i dont no wats wrong with it

For starters, switch the sub to the other channel. This will tell you if it's the amp or the sub. Check the tensil leads that come from the positive and negative posts to see if they are disconnected. Does the cone have motion? If the cone is stuck in one position, it's blown. Check these things and repost, hope it helps

Can a kicker cvr be fixed if it is blown if so how

Speaker lesson here. For space and time, I'll not get into certain nomenclature. Working from top to bottom, you have the cone, rubber surround, basket, spider, voic coil former, voice coil, and the magnet. The binding posts are connected to the tensil leads which connect to the spider and the voice coil. As the woofer is positively + and negatively - charged, it creates a magnetic field which moves the woofer up and down. There is a small gap between the magnet and the voice coil and former that's called a magnetic gap. This gap is what helps the speaker to move up and down, and creates the Xmax. The Xmax of the woofer is the maximum linear excursion the woofer can travel without causing permanent damage. With a blown speaker, normally the voice coil and voice coil former have been pushed out of the correct magnetic gap, usually around the top of the magnet. That means that the only way to fix it is to take the woofer completely apart. My suggestion is to just go and spend the money. A blown speaker is a sign of abuse, and voids warranties from the majority of companies out there to include Kicker.

How do you fix the kicker cvr 12? like i wired it up right and it still doesnt work i think i blew it it isnt springy any input?..want to fix it if i can dont have a lot of money!! feedback is awesome

Isn't springy----voice coil overheated and the cone is "frozen". It's shot.

I am thinking a re-cone kit (if it could be re-coned) and labor might be just as much as getting a new one. Sorry to say.

I have a kicker l7 12 and it plays sound but its stuck the speaker stays down or stays pushed out it dont move freely is there a way to fix that or can i send it someplace?

kicker gives you a credit if u ship it back to them and upgrade. i have blown several old l7s the new ones are way beter. upgrade i did and am alot happier. the 02 l7s lasted a few months the 08s still going strong with a bigger box and its been 1 1/2 years and no problems. and yes your sub is blown......

I have 2 12 in kicker cvr tryna drop to lower ohm

http://www.colomar.com/Shavano/dvc_spkr_wiring.html

Use the above site for several wiring schematics on dual voice coil speaker hookups. It will show how to wire for different impedance.
Also, I think the CVR 12's come in 2 ohm and 4 ohm impedance. See if you can check yours to determine which you have....
