Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen stopped working, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,

My pc is showing a white screen when iys on

Is it an LCD monitor ?
When an LCD screen has turned completely white, there are three normal causes: the screen is defective, the video cable is not connected correctly, or the graphics card on the motherboard of the computer is faulty. You will need to troubleshoot these possibilities to determine which problem you have. If you are not experienced in working on computer equipment, you should not attempt to disassemble your LCD screen because you could easily damage it. Seek professional assistance unless you have experience working on computer hardware.

Disconnect the white LCD screen from the computer by unscrewing the blue monitor cable. Connect the working LCD screen to your computer by attaching its blue monitor cable to the same slot. If your computer display does not show on the functioning LCD screen, try rebooting your computer. If it still does not display, the problem is with your computer's graphic card on the motherboard. Seek professional repair assistance. If your computer display shows normally on the working LCD screen, proceed to Step 2. Unplug the LCD monitor with the white screen. Disassemble the rear panel of the monitor with the small screwdriver. Carefully separate the screws into piles so that you can keep track of how to reassemble the monitor. Locate the internal video cable, a gray cable with a plug on the end that connects to the main components of the screen. See Below for the References section for photos of the video cable for assistance. http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2008/04/13/laptop-lcd-screen-turned-white/ Unplug the cable, checking for any debris or blockage. Reconnect the cable firmly. Reassemble the LCD screen. Plug it in and connect it to your computer. If the screen is still white, you have a defective LCD screen. You will need to replace it or take it to a professional repair service for assistance. Hope this helps.

Please, my laptop screen just start showing white whenever I on it

Your lcd screen is going bad and needs to be replaced. It could be the video card but most likely the lcd screen is going bad. Try connecting another monitor to the laptop to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the white screen then your video card is ok and your lcd screen is bad . If the Borrowed monitor displays the same white screen then your video card inside the computer is bad.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

White screen

The white screen you are getting is it just right after turning on the computer? If yes it means that you were not able to see the Dell logo correct?

Try connecting an external monitor thru VGA. While monitor and laptop is on with white screen please do this. Hold down Fn key then press F8 at the same time. This will toggle the display from the laptop to external monitor. If laptop displays to external monitor means that laptop LCD needs to be replaced.

If you do not have an external monitor try this.
While laptop is OFF. Do this. Hold down the D key then press power button at the same time.
Check if the laptop will display colors the whole screen. If you still see white screen then LCD needs replacement.

LCD mean LCD panel or the whole screen together with LCD cable and Inverter.

Hope this helps.

Dell M2300 issues: After several times of a freezed screen & rebooted the computer while either on the internet or working with "Autocad Inventor", it's finally gave up on me, on the last...

Isolate where the problem is: it could be the LCD display or the graphics circuit on the main board. Connect the VGA output of the laptop to an external monitor - one that you know is good. From the function keys, activate the VGA output of the laptop - it's suppose to switch between the LCD display or to the external monitor. Switch it to the external monitor. If the external monitor works, then you have a problem with the LCD display of the laptop.

There are white lines running vertically through my screen. on the sides the monitor shows the windows

Hi,

The vertical lines could be caused by the Graphics card/Motherboard or the LCD screen itself. Try to unplug the LCD cable at the tower and look for the self test feature that will be displayed on the LCD screen. If the screen is good it means the Graphics card is faulty (if expansion) or Motherboard (if integrated).

Hope this helps.

I have a BenQ FP791 17 in LCD. I was working until one day I turned it on and it now only displays an all white screen. I plugged it in to another computer, same problem. I can add it as a second monitor to windows but all it displays is white. Windows finds it and the mouse can move over to it but I do not see anything. I am handy with a soldering iron, but not nessisarily diagnosing electronic problems.
Comment posted on Oct 26, 2008I ended up replacing the bulging capacitors on the board inside, and now it works. Thanks for all the comments and help.

Benq lcd Displays only white

Most often the all white screen is the result of a missing voltage to the LCD panel. We usually find an open fuse on the panel circuit board. Unfortunately replacing the fuse does not usually fix the problem.

KDS K717s 17" LCD Monitor

The white screen tells me that the display cable (inside your monitor) may be unattached or broken.
The color bands if they are vertical or horizontal lines tell me that your display cable needs to be replaced.

So overall replace your display cable. If this doesn't entirely fix the problem your logic board (inside the monitor) needs to be replaced.
