Hello, the local only means you have connection to the router but the router does not have connection to either the modem. Did you try resetting the modem?
Turn off both devices (router and modem) turn the router on first. Then turn the modem. Wait a minute or so and the router should get the IP from the modem and it should work.
If you still have no luck, it means there's something wrong with either the modem or the actual connection from the ISP.
I hope this helps.

"I'm able to get internet connecetion if I plug a cable into the modem or
the router." I'm assuming you meant into the modem not the router. OK, then you have to login to your router 192.168.1.1 (that's the default ip) and under WAN configuration tab, release and renew the connection. Let me know if it worked.
Ok, let's try this. First, make sure that this switch is in the normal (AUTO) position (at the bottom of the router).
On the bottom hold down the “INIT” button for three seconds.
This will reset them to factory defaults. They
will take 30-60 seconds to reboot afterwards.
- You can also log in to your router and under advance configuration you will se the Initialize button - that will also reset your settings.
1. Power down the Cable or DSL modem and the computer which will be used to
configure the AirStation router.
2. Plug the Cable or DSL modem’s Ethernet cable into the AirStation’s WAN port.
Initially, you may need to unplug this cable from your computer, hub or other router.
3. Plug the provided Ethernet cable into one of the four LAN ports on the AirStation and
plug the other end into your computer’s Ethernet adapter (NIC).
4. Important: turn everything on in the correct order!! Power on your cable or DSL modem
and wait one full minute, then power on the AirStation and wait one full minute, and
finally power on the computer which will be used to configure the AirStation.
Log in to 192.168.11.1 (default router ip) the username is root and just click connect.(password is blank).
Under WAN Configuration tab Normally, the
internet connection wizard will set this for
you if you have a cablemodem or DSL. If
you’re not sure what to choose, perform
Easy Setup. Or click on Aquirer an IP adress automatically from a DHCP server. (this should be your modem)
And once you are sure you can get online. Then log in and configure your wireless/security settings, admin password, etc.
This is as basic we can get. If you followed this correctly and still no luck with your router, please let me know.

I am having this problem on my Buffallo router, it automatically gets reset and we need to configure this again. Seems like some firmware issue.
