Norelco SmartTouch-XL razor, stopped working won't charge

I have a Norelco SmartTouch-XL razor. Maybe 50 charges in 4 years (last charge lasted over a month). It just stopped working. I plugged it in, lights light up, no charge. Not sure if it's the battery or something else. Help.

It is doubtful that the battery is bad because they dont normally go bad suddenly. Usually, they will degrade slowly and hold a charge less and less before they stop working.
It sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere. Check the leads from the circuit board to the moto and also the tabs that connect the battery to the circuit board. These sometimes break.

Here's a reply for the 4601X shaver if LED indicator fails to work after battery replacement: one solution, the voltage regulator part in back of the razor fell off. It's a reddish color item with metal prongs; it must be put back originally where there's a horizontal 'extension' line of the plastic case and the prongs go to the board/connector cord part. Take opportunity to clean the unit with air and lightly lubricate the motor with silicone spray, put it together carefully, tighten screws and slide it to proper voltage. Once done, the LED works and unit gets a little warm-it's now charging properly.

Norelco 8894XL is charging to over 100 minutes. According to manual, it supposed to charge only to 100 minuyes. What is causing it overcharge?

I have owned a Norelco 8894xl for over 10 years. My battery meter will show 127 minutes after the razor is fully charged. The battery is not over charged. This is normal and does not indicate a problem. Hope this helps.

Razor stopped red light comes on will not charge

mcdevito75 here, If the battery is 2--3 years old it may have to be replaced, battery may not accept a chatge anymore. Look for any appliance repair shop in your area for assisstance. Sometimes with Norelco shavers it pays to replace the shaver over changeing the battery--ies.

My razor appears to have died even though the LED

Usually the batteries last only a few years before needing replacement. Rechargeable batteries are good for only so many cycles so you've done well to go 8 years. You can replace the batteries if you're handy with a soldering iron - I've done it many times. However, with 8 years on the clock you'll probably want to replace the blades too. The batteries are about $10 for the pair (AA rechargeables with solder tabs) and the blade set is about $30 so you're approaching the cost of a new shaver already. Here's a link - you'll need two.

I no longer have the owners manual. What does it

According to the manual, the red light comes on while charging when the battery does not yet have enough charge to sustain a 3-5 minute shave. The green light stays on steady while the razor is charging, and blinks when it is fully charged. If your battery life is short, they might need to be changed.
