I can't get my camera to work with my messenger program, can you help (AOL, Yahoo, MSN)? cant get web cam to work on yahoo mess says webcam not connected

Probably because you are in a different program to your contact
Cross chatting does not support webcams
If you are in Yahoo Messenger for example and your contact is in Yahoo Mail or Yahoo webmessenger or MSN the webcam feature is not available the option may be greyed out or missing.
You both have to be in Yahoo Messenger or MSN

Your web cam won't have an icon unless you install a program to view the webcam. Try programs like the latest yahoo messenger, msn messenger etc that have webcam capabilities.
Also you can some graphic viewers that will allow you to view or take a snapshot from the camera.

if you have the webcam center opened along with with msn then it wont work on either one of them.
you can try these steps tp check if it works for you or not.

1)look for the web cam center system tray icon and right click on it if its there and select exit

and as u said u cant see you self in web cam console --- in webcam console you can only see your self under the doodling tab and only of your webcam is working at that i.e

either you have the webcam center opened or any other messenger or software which turns on your cam then only ull be able to view your cam in webcam console alongside.

your cam also needs setup on your messaging program

Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and in blue writing click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window

Packaging says it works with MSN/Yahoo/AIM, but when troubleshooting Yahoo IM using AMCAP.EXE (as per the Yahoo webcam help site), it shows color space/compression used by this product is MJPG and this is the only option. you can launch the webcam using yahoo messenger,msn messnger,AOL messenger,skype, etc.. in order for other people to see you, you and the other person should be logged in to ex. yahoo messnger or aol messneger..in that way you will have an option on your end to start your webcam and the other party needs to click something like "view webcam" beside your username..
