Your washer lid lock button is locked and lid was not put down before it locked, which is why the light is flashing. Therefore, push the "START" button until you see the lid lock button is off (Approx 3 seconds). Once it is off, then you can put the lid down and push the start button again, which will lock the lid into place. The washer will NOT drain or wash or spin unless the lid itself is in the locked position. If you were able to get the lid down and locked and it still doesn't work, then you need a technician to replace a wiring harness. However, you mentioned that the lid lock button was flashing, therefore, it stands to reason that your lid is NOT locked down.
This happened to me today. I found the lid switch was loose and not engaging properly. Under the left side lid hinge, from the inside, I manually moved he switch arm, and the machine started working upon closing the lid!
Check door switch: If
the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open
let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should
begin
draining. Release switch. Motor
should stop. Press switch a second time.
Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on
while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. OR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q942xn_2VXY Pl click if helped.
What happens over time is the lid gets a little bent from use , reason it wont start unless lid is put down is because there is a lid switch that is called a safety switch, you might have to bend down lid some or this:
Ok, first check under the lid, there is a peg that goes into the top edge of the washer. That is a switch. The idea between this is that it is a safety feature for mostly kids, so that when the washer is on that high speed spin cycle, that a child does not open up lid and stick there arm or hand in and have it injured. Most washer are designed so that the washer will only spin when the washing machine lid is down. So, of course you have it down, but sometimes the lid might have got a little bent or warped. So first try with lid down pushing down on lid while on spin cycle. If still wont spin, most likely it is that switch that that peg goes into, if you take a knife or flat head screw driver, with lid up on spin cycle and push into that hole with the knife or flat head screw driver and do not here a click when pushing it and releasing it, then you need to replace that switch, it is pretty cheep, normally under 20 bucks and a appliance store and when picking up the part they can tell you exactly how to replace it yourself, it is pretty easy and only takes a few minutes. Hope this helps. Mike
what is the model number and the brand name?most likely you have a bad lid switch.it's a saftey on most washers, the factory doesn't want the washer to run when it's in spin so if you were to open the lid while it was spinning the washer would shut down,if the lid switch is broke it's like the lid is open and it won't spin or run
check the lid switch some washers will fill and was with the lid open but will not spin, if the lid is closed manually actuate the lid switch or bypass it electrically, or replace it.
If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:
No power Lid switch No power
Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?
Lid switch
If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
