If you have not replaced the lamp in this television at any time, it is probably in need of replacement. Lamp # is TY-LA1000. I buy lamps on e-bay from a company called niosales, excellent quality and free shipping. There are also three fans in your television, if the small fan near the DMD module fails the tv will not start ofr stay on. I really believe the lamp is your trouble though. http://cgi.ebay.com/Panasonic-TY-LA1000-TYLA1000-NEW-PHILIPS-LAMP-CAGE-/390092304715?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad350314b
You should have received a message on the screen about replacing the lamp. Also, the LAMP led on the front should be lit in red.
You can replace the lamp assembly easily for about $150 - $250.
Don't try to replace the bulb only.

Most likely you need a bulb. That is first step in any troubleshooting for that tv. Check out Panasonic Gallery to identify lamp and replacement bulb.
Changing bulb involves removing the lamp assembly and replacing the bulb in the lamp assembly. Like doing a puzzle. Requires philips screwdriver, pliers and patience. Don't have jam on your fingers when you do it.
Pull off the panel below the screen.
Remove the two screws hold the 2nd cover from the left.
Remove one screw from the lamp module and pull it out.
Buy the lamp module. It is not worth it to try replacing the lamp. You can damage the bulb easily.
