all monitors the sign on (with Samsung logo)
tnen tell you
NO SYNC, no SIG, or not signal, due to the cable is not plugged in
if you can push menu key 1second after turn on and that OSD screen is dead, that is a bad monitor if it is dead.

as does model #
square screen relic.
i think this monitor is 18 years old
and us CCFL monitors, 10 year later we went to LED backlamps
yours is not LED, and has CCLF lamps that go
DIM
dead,
blink
or intermittant
or take hours to come on.
time to retire, i because fixing it is more that new cost of a good monitor, buy one say used made in 2011, and get LED.
advance by 10 years, and win.
when you say monitor can't be found did you mean the monitor has no reactions when you turn on your pc?
here are some test you may need to do to know which part is faulty 1. Turn on your computer, did it display the monitor's logo on screen? When it does monitor is good, when only blank screen it could be the vga cable or the video card. 2. See if the led indication lit. When it lit to steady green, it's good signal is coming in from the video card. It should be followed by screen display. If no display it could be the backlight inverter lamp busted or faulty inverter board. When lit green then turns red, no signal coming from the video card. Check vga cable if fix properly to both monitor and video card. Or may need to reseat properly connection of video card from the motherboard. If no led indication lamp, then monitor is dead. Check ac power cord for continuity using multitester. Check power supply section in the monitor, replaced bulged or blown capacitor with exact value, this components were the first to get affected when lcd monitor failed o turn on. 3. When computer was turned on got display and then monitor turns black, go check the vga cable, Fix the connection properly or may need to replace it with new one. 4. When no signal appears or display blank screen after logo, then check video card. First remedy is to disconnect it the reseat properly to the motherboard. If this have no effect change your video card.
go follow these steps and let me know which is closely to your problem so I can give you a good advise.
1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.
2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer.
3. Turn on the monitor.
If the monitor is functioning properly, you will see a box in the illustration below.
This box appears during normal operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or
damaged.
4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the
monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after using the previous procedure, check your video
controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly.
Warning
The Power supply inside the monitor can be hazardous and donot open the monitor while power on.
Donot work with the monitor when it is open and the power supply is on.
If there is something wrong with the input signal, a message appears on the screen or the
screen goes blank although the power indicator LED is still on. The message may indicate
that the monitor is out of scan range or that you need to check the signal cable.
Remove the onboard battery out for about 30
minutes, this will cause the bios to go back to the default settings!
Or look on the board for CMOS RAM clear.
Pins 1 & 2 are normal mode and pins 2 & 3 will Clear the BIOS. Here is some info from Compaq.
Check connections, Hertz rate, and settings (if you can read them). Otherwise, it may be time to whip out the cash and get a new monitor and/or computer.
