Dryer problems dryer smells like it is burning

We were told if you were painting or varnishing sometimes you get a keronsene type smell from your dryer, but we are not. This has been going on for about 3 months. Have taken it all apart, cleaned, vaccumed, cleaned inside tub thoroughly. Nothing helps. Clothes come out smelling like kerosene. The fumes go through the whole house if a window is open near the outside vent

I have the same problem. It smells like someone is barbequing. I too was told there was nothing you can do. It's been a month and I'm getting sick of going to the laundramat. They said it could last up to a year.

YOU SHOULD TAKE THE DRYER APART AND CLEAN IT OUT OF ALL LINT. THEN INSPECT ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING FOR MELTED INSULATION. CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS TO COMPONENTS IN THE DRYER AND REPAIR ANY SUSPECTED PROBLEMS.

Kenmore elite front load dryer squeaking and burning smell

you have a bearing in the drum support that has frozen and now the rubber wheel is burning up. The bearing needs to be replaced ASAP. You could damage the dryer if you continue to use it.

Kenmore Electric Dryer Series 80 Model

Disconnect the dryer from your vent completely,. pull dryer out 3 ft. from wall and test to see if the smell continues, You have to test for a few minutes to clear out any burning lint from vent restrictions. If the smell hoes away then you know you have venting problems. Also check on the grate that covers the element( the part you look through when you see the orange glow from the element) sometimes plastic or clothing burns onto this grate and needs to be cleaned off. I the smell remains, you will have to tear down the dryer to see if you can find the cause of the smell.
