HDMI not working anymore

When I plug my HDMI cable in, it doesn't seem to work anymore. My TV would say that there is no source, but when I turn on the DVD player, the box that says that goes away but no picture shows up. It used to do this just fine. The HDMI cable is good because it also works well on my Xbox 360. How do I get it to make the HDMI work again?

SOURCE: Magnavox MWD200F not working anymore!!!

since you have plugged out the DVD for 3hrs the conclusion is that you will need to take it to a repairman the problem with your DVD is that it got a surge due to the power failure.that sound you are getting is from the little transformer in the power supply, the current stops at the primary windings and is not crossing over the the secondary winding to complete the cycle.good luck i was the one who told you to plug it out for 3hrs

SOURCE: connecting LG DVD recorder to cable box and HGTV digitally

Two things come to mind: copy protection and resolution settings.
The TV may not allow copy protected material to come from your LG, or the sampling frequency may be unacceptable. On page 15 of the manual it talks about 96kHz and 48kHz frequency settings. The third thing to check is the vertical resolution using the RES button on the front panel. SDTV is 480, and HDTV is anything above that. Using the HDMI is supposed to allow upconvert to 1080i max if your set can use that resolution.

SOURCE: Distorted color on hdmi output

If you haven't already stumbled across the fix: I just had the exact same problem after about eights months of casual use. Unplugging the DVD player for about 15 minutes and then plugging it back in "solved" the problem. Until next time it happens, anyway.

SOURCE: How to eliminate error screen:"your tv does not allow display of this program through the dvi input source. please chose another tv input source."

"cable box to tv is hdmi cable"

Everything I've read on the web says cable box to tv connection must also use component (rgb) cables. The error is coming from the cable box (STB). All the Scientific Atlanta (SA) cable boxes seem have this Digital Rights Management (DRM) bug and the only way to be totally rid of the error is to replace the digital connection from box to the TV with an analog connection.

SOURCE: No Picture on HDMI using Philips DVP5992.

You can try out by connecting the CVBS (Yello) out from player to TV and connect HDMI out from Player to TV. Goto CVBS input on Sony TV. Select set up and you should get the HDMI Video options availble. Try to change the resulution and check for Video on HDMI source.
Which disc you were playing PAL or NTSC? PAL should work for Europe.

I used to connect my tv with my laptop using an HDMI cable, and all of a sudden, it just does not work anymore. What can I do?

Hi Cyril Lott,

There is a possibility that the HDMI cable might have failed so try connecting another known good HDMI cable and check if that helps.

Thanks and Regards.

Can someone please help me get my laptop working through HDMI cable onto TV on a sony VAIO VGN-FW23G. I need to know the process to do this

1. Check the computer for changing output (some computers use <F5>, <F8>, depending on which brand they are. I believe Sony uses <Function><F7> or <F7>).
2. Check what channel the HDMI port is on (e.g. AV1, HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.) - you need to know this if your TV doesn't automatically switch to the new input.
3. Plug the HDMI cable into the TV HDMI cable-in port.
4. Plug the HDMI cable into the laptop HDMI cable-out port.

5. Turn on the computer.
6. Press the <Function><F7> simultaneously ONCE. The screen should flicker and show up on TV.
7. Sometimes you may have to go to "Display Preferences" and select Dual Monitors or external monitor if your computer doesn't do it automatically. Repeat Step 6 after.

** You may have to adjust Display Resolution to 1024 x 768 or lower in order for the TV to work. After it works at a lower display (800 x 600, for example), you can adjust the resolution to the maximum the TV can accept.

Connecting Ps3 with philips tv (full hd) when i got hd cable in, and click to switch so the ps3 uses hd to show things and i than switch over to the channel i plugin the hdmi cabel it gives blac kscreen

If it's the first time using your PS3, use the composite cables that came with it. Turn on the PS3 go to video settings and switch the input to HDMI. After you've switched to HDMI, turn the PS3 off and connect your HDMI cable, go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If this isn't the first time you've used HDMI for your PS3, make sure your T.V. is on the correct input. If the T.V. is on the correct input, try switching the HDMI cable to a different input. If that doesn't work try using a different HDMI cable, testing different HDMI connections if you're still getting the black screen. If none of those work then it's probably a problem with the PS3, but just to make sure try plugging something else with HDMI to see if that works. If another HDMI device works, then it's your PS3, if it doesn't then it could be a problem with your HDMI connections on the T.V.

I plugged in my PS3 using an HDMI cable and i get no feedback

If you just bought the PS3 use your composite cables that came with the system. Turn the PS3 on and go to the video settings, set up video input to HDMI. After you've done that plug your HDMI back into your PS3 and try turning it on. If that works go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If that doesn't work make sure your T.V. is on the same input that the HDMI cable is plugged in. If it is and still doesn't work try switching to a different HDMI port. If switching to a different HDMI port doesn't work try a new HDMI cable. If the new HDMI cable doesn't work then there is a problem with the port on the PS3 which would require a repair.

When i go to hook up a hdmi cable to my philips flat screen it wont recognize that i have a hdmi plugged into it. so what could that be the tv? the hdmi works with my other tv though

Hi,
This model has 4 HDMI inputs, do you get same problem in each HDMI input?
Did you checked HDMI input with any other video source like dvd player or PS3 etc instead of cable box?
Below are few helpful tips to connect HDMI input..
1. Ensure that your HDMI cable is certified.
2. Press SOURCE on the remote control to switch to another source and then switch back to the HDMI source.
3. Reset the accessory device and the TV.
• Turn on the TV
• Select the HDMI channel
• Turn on the accessory device
4. While the TV and the accessory device are powered on, unplug either end of the HDMI cable and then reinsert the cable.
Try above options and if tv still does not show picture of any video source through HDMI then it seems problem of HDMI processor located on main board, visual check is needed by qualified tech or call Philips if tv is under warranty.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.
