the compressor wasnt getting cold enough to freeze a cup of water 2 days ago. today, there was no coldness at all, and when i pulled it out from the wall, the compressor was very hot to the touch. should i scrap it and get a new one altogether, or could it be repaired?
Compressor got hot and motor shut off will it start up when it cools. If not what do I do
" low charge " is a non-good tech answer . No such thing . Replace the overload/relay on the compressor . It Just plugs onto the side of the compressor . Take your model number with you to get the correct part .
If compressor is hot it means (a) low charge (b) locked rotor and in any case it can be fixed

turns out that the defrost timer was stuck in defrost and as such, the compressor was staying shut off.
