You need to open it most of the dryer need maintanace every 4-5 yars and if you keep runing it you may do more damage.
there are several parts that the drum is turning on them and they get bad after few years. like felts,riders,belt...

Sounds like you need new drum rollers installed, when they get old they squeak,squeal, and make loud bumping noises.
