Hi i have an aspire 5570z and the power cord is not working. The computer is not charging properly. How would I know for sure if its a computer issue or power cord

If your Acer Aspire 5920 series laptop is not charging when the AC adapter is connected, it is likely that the power cord is not properly connected. Make sure that the power cord is securely connected to the laptop and that the power switch is in the "on" position. If the problem persists, you may need to replace the power cord or contact the manufacturer for assistance.
Have you plugged in your power cord to the electric socket so that you can charge the battery using the laptop with the power cord in while it is charging
so if there is not charge in the laptop at all maybe plug in and turn on socket switch and leave to charge for an hour or so
You most likely have a broken DC Jack on the motherboard. Thus, the battery cannot get a charge and the power supply is not making a connection to the system board because of the broken DC Jack.
Take out the battery and make sure you can turn on the laptop with just the AC Adaptor hooked up.
If you can then you know the AC Adaptor is good. Try another known good working battery in the laptop, if the battery charges then you know that the old battery is bad.
If the laptop doesn't charge with a know working battery or a new one then you know that the motherboard is bad.
Check the adapter with a multi-meter, the voltage on the plug that connects into the laptop should have a voltage slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the lable on the adapter. If you get nothing then the adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. That is why the battery is not charging.
This laptop can have some problem with the motherboard adn the power supply, you can try to open it up and check the internal parts or take it to a service center for repair....
