Dear Expert,
I have been appointed a new network admin and I was asked to shut the whole network and system down due to some maintenance issues. When booting up all the devices router, switches, servers and access point I started testing to make sure everything is fine. But i come across one problem that my wireless access point which is wired in to a switch then to router is not assinging ip address to wireless users. We can detect the wireless network but it is not assigning any user with ip addresses. what would be the cause of the problem? I have never worked on access points before just a basic idea of its use.
i appreciate your help,
Thanks,
Press and hold the reset button of the Linksys router using a pointed object (like a paper clip or pen) for 30 seconds.
The reset button is located in the back of the Linksys router closest to an Ethernet port.
The button is recessed to protect you from accidentally resetting the modem.
Unplug the Linksys router while pressing the reset button.
Shut down your computer for one minute.
Plug the Linksys router back into the wall outlet.
Reboot your computer.
Open your web browser to access a website.
Type the below in the address bar if you want to reset your password:
http://192.168.1.1
A prompt from the site will request a user name and password.
The user name stays blank, or, in some models, is "admin".
Navigate to the security tab. Input your new password to protect unauthorized access to your router
hope this helps
