If you have a computer with windows 7 all ur problems will be solved....just plug it in and windows 7 will fix the problems....but one thing it will only run well on 7 so think about changing

goto the rca website and find the latest firmware for your player and download it and reload the firmware that should get everything back to factory defaults

By rights you shouldnt have to download any drivers....out of the box you plug in ur device and it comes up in My Computer as a drive...just like sliding in a SD card and from there you just add or remove ur music.....Using the software that you get from the net is just looking for trouble. I never did and this is why iv gone 5 years trouble free

Just Google the internet with "RD2840 firmware download", download the firmware upgrade .exe file, and follw the instructions in upgrading the firmware of it.

Part of the proces is to restablish all the necessary files.

Ohms was helping me, I am guessing that he tried to download some info for the fix.
However, because we have pony express dial-up the material was never fully sent.
Help ! My mp3 is my link to success in triathlons ( got one this sat) I am sunk without the support. Again the error message reads "bad or missing lyra sys folder"

you need 2 update the software go to rca.com

Go to RCA support http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=downloads and find your player and download the firmware and drivers (if needed) upgrade and install to your player its very easy and instructions are at the same site.

Is it possible you deleted system files along with other files by mistake? It's a very common problem, and it would be good to know what causes this since some people say its because the Lyra allows you to delete system files which screws the device. I heard of someone that called Thomson helpline with this problem and got his replaced, so it wouldn't hurt to try.
