I have a saw bought last yr ran fine. this spring it refuses to start, changed the gas/oil mix,new spark plug and air filter. it has lots of spark and compression but wont fire. im not familar with two strokes , any ideas? i also tried using starting fluid not even a pop.
Make sure the muffler has not become plugged. Check the flywheel key as it may have sheared off for some reason causing the timing to be off, yet still generate sparks. Are the sparks blue and snappy? If not, check the ignition module gap to the flywheel magnets--use a thin business card for a gauge. A wide gap can cause weak spark. Hope this gets you running again!

check the carburetor. If you have a stiff diaphragm then it won't run. I have seen them that behave just like that. They will run fine, turn it off for a few minutes then they won't restart. WD40 isn't going to get it to run either, try a small amount of mixed gas right into the carb. It should run for a minute until the gas you put in runs out then die. If it doesn't run then you have a bigger problem
hi
if you have a good compression,a strong enough blue spark and carburetion for the fuel air mixture try priming the engine(put small amount of gas in the spark plug hole)then start the engine.If the engine runs only the gas you put inside the cilinder there is a carburetion problem to find and fix.
let me know regards savumihai71
my 455 did this also I went and bought a new gas filter new gas and mix. try this you might have some water in your gas,also add some sea foam additive to your gas mixture just about a table spoon to 2.5 gallons of gas
Here are a few things to consider :
- fresh fuel ratio 40:1
-new spark plug
-choke not sticking
-air fuel mixture correct
-bar and chain oil tank full, oil getting on chain
-bar sprocket in good shape getting lubed.
Please let me know what you find.
sounds like your mix is off and it's fowling the plugs. probably too rich. make sure the level in your carb bowls isn't too high. Really sounds like you should clean and bench set your carbs. Especially if a plug change helps but doesn't last, then it's got to be your fuel mix, or maybe timing.
When the engine get warm and die(I suppose)check the spark at the sparkplug.You can let the saw run until it ran out of gas and you will not distroy the engine.Change the sparkplug.
