Lexmark x2500 I have purchased the #28 Black ink cartridge and the #29 Color ink cartridge for my Lexmark x2500 which is listed for the type I needed to buy at both the place I bought it and the Lexmark site. I am having trouble with the printer not being able to communicate with the ink cartridges or it says they are invalid. They have been installed correctly but the same thing every time. Hope you have a solution thank you!

I have been experiencing the same issue and at this point I am tired. I cleaned plates, boought multiple cartrideges, multiple self print pages and if the color cartridge can't read then its the black one. Who do you complain to about products released that are simply endless issues!

If this was purchased from Circuit City, I read somewhere that Lexmark has programmed the 2500 to accept only cartridges ordered through CC specific to this model. Others show an error.

Try cleaning the copper plates and install back again if the same message pops up try single cartridge if the error exits with 2 cartridges ,replace the cartridge as lexmark cart has 1 year warranty..

Changing ink cartridge

  • Here is an instruction set I found at http://www.ehow.com/how_4488808_replace-ink-cartridges-lexmark-x2500.html
  • Step 1 Press the "Power" button to turn on your Lexmark X2500 3-in-1 printer.
  • Step 2 Open the top portion of the printer to reveal the ink cartridges.
  • Step 3 Lift the gray plastic cover on the left. Remove the empty black #28 ink cartridge. Next, lift the purple plastic cover on the right and remove the empty color #29 ink cartridge.
  • Step 4 Remove the new black #28 ink refill cartridge from its packaging. Tear the protective strip of paper from the cartridge's sensor. Now, remove the new color #29 ink refill cartridge from its packaging and tear the protective strip of paper from the cartridge's sensor.
  • Step 5 Turn the cartridges so that you can read the label. This is the way the cartridges should face when being put into the printer.
  • Step 6 Slide the black #28 cartridge into the slot on the left side and push it down. Slide the color #29 cartridge into the slot on the right side and push down.
  • Step 7 Push the gray plastic cover down over the #28 cartridge until it clicks closed. Push the purple plastic cover down over the #29 cartridge until it clicks closed.
  • Step 8 Close the top portion of the printer. Your new ink cartridges are installed, and your printer is ready to use.

I brought a Lexmark X2500 color all in one.It came with just one cartridge #24,and it needs two.I would like to know the cartridge numbers for each one.

Go to Lexmark's Cartridge Finder page. Pick All-in-One in the first box. When the second box appears, pick Lexmark X2500. Then the third box will appear and click it to see all the carts you can buy that work with it.

    Looks like it's 28, 29, 31, 34 or 35.
