Try resetting the unit and also charge it using only the wall charger overnight.
Here's how to reset -it just puts everything back to factory settings -
1- Turn unit on WHILE HOLDING your thumb in the lower right corner as shown in picture.
2-Select YES

For the 1390:
From here you should be able to access the Garmin device, properly recognized by your computer as a GPS device. You will also be able to use the Communicator plugin on the Garmin site or the Webupdater software.
If the device is already plugged into the USB, your computer may indicate that it has recognized the device is plugged in. At that point, release the screen.
If the device is unplugged, the calibration screen may display. Now, plug the device into the computer's USB port. A green status bar will start loading as the device prepares to connect to the computer.
Hi, I am having the same problem and can't reset ( does not allow you to select yes or No to erase data. Also the USB connection does not recognise the device at all. I have had my 1390 for 13 months, how is it that everyone can have this same problem with every model?? Garmin keep their servie Dept in business??

Usually answered in minutes!
what if the device goes straight to loading maps then the "do you really want to erase all data" screen comes on but it won't respond to your touch screen answer "yes"?
