Error 5100 Will an empty in cartridge cause an Error 5100 to pop up? I want to know if I should spend the money to buy a new ink cartridge or if the printer needs to be sent into a shop/or is broken. Thanks

Dear Scub,

Did you hear a loud crunching sound from the printer before the error code 5100 was displayed?

1. You may need to send in the unit for service. Some Cannon Service offer temporary replacement unit while working on yours.

Checking and do-it-yourself inkjet printer repair is messy.

2. You can try check if the print head assembly (carriage) moves freely from left to right. Lubricate/clean if necessary (If your printer has one) check also the **** strip at the back of the carriage. This is a plastic film with multiple dark notch like mark. Clean with cotton swab and light solvent or isoprophyl alcohol.

If these does not solve your problem, guess your back to # 1.

Cartridge Error message on our Lexmark X5150

The Lexmark machines are designed to kick out anything it suspects may be refilled. If your old cartridge has bad print nozzles this may be tripping the error. Printers are typically for sensitive with their color cartridges anyway because the manufacturers make more money on the color ones. You can try looking around the settings on the machine and in the printer preferences to see if you can tell it to ignore the ink levels and see if you can continue to print.

I am receiving the ?Print cartridge problem-[Tri-Color] refer to device doc. to troubleshoot.? Error message on my Hp j4580. There is no help in doc and nothing I?ve tried (cleaning etc.)works. Should I...

I had the same problem. I called hp and spent an hour running through the troubleshooting things that I'd already done. They ended up sending me a new ink cartridge, and surprisingly, it worked. For some reason, the printer refused to recognize a nearly full ink cartridge. Go figure. It seems to be working for now, but it's a huge waste of ink and money. If you have the patience for it, call hp and see if they will replace your cartridges.

Refilled my Dell Ink Cartridge

yes, it's safe, and if you are dissatisfied with the cartridge, take it up with the cartridge re-filler...better yet, spend about $100 on a black & white laser printer (HP), and get 2000 pages per cartridge, and reduce cost per page by 20 times or more! And If you buy compatibles for this (which are more reliable) -save even more.

New ink cartridge for Kodak Easy Share 5300 will not work

The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state "COLOR INK EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error.

So to fix your problem Open the access door and Remove the ink cartridges. Then download and install the new Firmware. Heres the link.

Kodak AiO 5300 Firmware

Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank and install it.

If you can get through to kodak you should request reimbursement of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.

I hope this helps

Service error 5100 on canon pixma mp130

When this happened to me, I beat my head against the wall until I finally figured out that the waste ink absorber on the right side (spongy looking thing), was overflowing, and clogging the nozzles. I took a piece of paper towel and absorbed some of the ink. Make sure to wipe the colored ink absorber as well.
