Take a flash light (seriously) when its on point it at the screen do you see something? I betcha you got a bad back light or a inverter issue.

also you can try to hook up a external monitor maybe? if that comes on then you know you got a display fault.

when in doubt please contact manufacture support or bring it into a local repair shop for a estimate.

Be considerate your solution was free, please leave a rating and feedback for your free solution, thanks

SOURCE: i have a compaq evo n1020v laptop,i connect to the

I assume you already have a cable or DSL modem and you were already connected to an Internet Service Provider and you no longer wish to connect to the Internet using your wireless card and wireless router.
THEN
1. Just remove the add-on wireless card from your laptop, no need to do anything on your laptop, if you wish to connect wirelessly again, just insert your wireless card and configure the wireless router again.
2. Turn off the wireless settings on your wireless router - you have to go into the wireless router configuration. This prevents anyone (unauthorized persons) accessing the Internet using your wireless connection.
3. Connect a network 10baseT cable to a 10baseT port on the router and the other in the 10baseT port on the laptop.

The network settings should be already setup for you to connect to the Internet (especially when you had access to the Internet previously), if not get back to me and I will give you further information/instructions.

I have a Compaq N1020v with a 14.1 display. The LCD was cracked and I plan to replace it. I would like to replace it with the 15 inch display for the Compaq N1020v. Will that work, or is the 15.0 to big?

It depends on how "adaptable" the mounts on the "surround" of the LCD screen, i.e., whether the one "surround" was used by COMPAQ for both 14" and 15" LCD screens, or whether the part-numbers were different.

I have a compaq evo n1020v, and i want to connect to the internet using wireless connection

First of all you need a router (or free hotspot) to connect to. Connecting to other's person router without prior consent is regarded as theft by the law.
To actually connect: Start / Control Panel / Wireless network setup wizard - follow its instructions.

First conclusion: This is not a software fixable problem. If your notebook is still in warranty, I suggest you to RMA it. No doubt somethings broken.
